Sei Young Kim Captures Meijer LPGA Classic in all-Pro V1 playoff

Titleist golf ball loyalist Sei Young Kim (Pro V1) captured the Meijer LPGA Classic for her second victory of the year, topping Carlota Ciganda with a birdie on the first hole of an all-Titleist Pro V1 playoff.

The winning shot in the playoff came when the 23-year-old Kim hit a 124-yard shot from the deep left rough - so deep that she momentarily lost her ball. Kim's Pro V1 ran onto the green and settled at 3 1/2 feet. She sank the short birdie putt with her father, Jung Il, looking on.

"I'm very happy on Father's Day to give my dad this trophy," Kim said. "My dad really wanted (me) to win this week."

Kim closed with a 3-under-par 68 in regulation play to match Ciganda at 17-under-par 267.

Ciganda, who fired a final round 67, now has four runner-up finishes, including two in playoffs.

Kim now has five career victories, going 3-0 in playoffs.

She won the Founders Cup this year in Phoenix, matching the LPGA scoring record of 27-under-par. Last year, she won three times and was the rookie of the year.

THE COUNTS: Titleist was the most relied upon golf ball at the event with 95 players in the field trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than four times the nearest competitor with 22.
