Groenewald claims fifth Sunshine Tour title

It was an all-Titleist golf ball leaderboard at the Origins of Golf tournament at Arabella Country Estates, where Titleist golf ball loyalist Vaughn Groenewald (Pro V1) claimed his fifth career Sunshine Tour title by one shot over Stefan Engell Andersen (Pro V1x).

“That’s why we play – we want to win,” said Groenewald after raising the trophy at Arabella. “I’d like to win every week if I could. I feel bad for Stefan. He played well with seven birdies and an eagle today. It’s a pity, but his turn will come.”

Groenewald closed with a 6-under-par 66 en route to a 9-under-par 207 victory total.

Titleist Brand Ambassador Neil Schietekat (Pro V1x) and Titleist golf ball loyalist Alex Haindl (Pro V1x) claimed a share of third position at 6-under-par, while Titleist Brand Ambassador Danie van Tonder (Pro V1x) finished another shot back for solo fifth.

“It’s amazing,” Groenewald said after the victory. “Even when I phoned my Dad after I finished, I started crying. I’ve been close this year in a couple of tournaments, leading, and I’ve messed it up, so today was good.”

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

Titleist was the most relied upon golf ball at the event with 67 players in the field trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than four times the nearest competitor with 16.
