Titleist golf ball loyalist John Daly (Pro V1x) fired three consecutive rounds in the 60’s, including a closing 3-under-par 69 to earn his first career PGA TOUR Champions title at the Insperity Invitational.
Daly, who entered the final round with a one-shot lead, eagled the first hole at The Woodlands Country Club in Texas, then added a birdie on No. 3 to extend his lead to three shots.
His 14-under 202 victory total was one shot clear of two players. Daly made his PGA TOUR Champions debut at this event a year ago.
“It’s just awesome," said Daly. “I want to let all my sponsors know that I love them and thank them for everything. Now I can say I'm a champion on the PGA TOUR Champions. It's really cool and hopefully I can keep this confidence going."
TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS
Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the Insperity Invitational with 63 players in the field of 79 relying on a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, nine times the nearest competitor with 7.
Daly’s win is the fifth for Titleist players on the 2017 season, compared to one (1) for the nearest competitor.
John Daly joins Bernhard Langer (Pro V1), Scott McCarron (Pro V1), Tom Lehman (Pro V1x) and Steven Ames (Pro V1) in the 2017 Titleist Winners Circle.
