Congratulations to Titleist Brand Ambassador Erik Compton for being awarded the inaugural PGA Tour Courage Award. The announcement was made on Wednesday by PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem. Compton, a two-time heart transplant recipient begins his third season on the PGA Tour at this week's Frys.com Open.According to the announcement, the PGA Tour Courage Award is presented "to a player who, through courage and perseverance, has overcome extraordinary adversity, such as personal tragedy or debilitating injury or illness, to make a significant and meaningful contribution to the game of golf."The Courage Award includes a $25,000 charitable contribution to be distributed to a charity of the award recipient’s choice; this year’s contribution will be shared by the Cardiovascular Institute of Miami and the Arnold Palmer Medical Center Foundation at Compton’s request. “Erik’s story is a remarkable one in the fact he has overcome extraordinary odds to not only survive, but thrive,” said Finchem, speaking from the Frys.com Open.“ In recent years, he has started a family with wife Barbara and daughter Petra, won a Web.com Tour event and played two years on the PGA Tour. With Erik’s show of perseverance and courage, along with his charitable work to encourage organ donation, he is a very fitting recipient of the inaugural PGA Tour Courage Award.”“Through the help of family, doctors and friends, I have gone from being someone lying on his back in recovery to someone walking the fairways of the PGA Tour,” said Compton.“ Not only has playing on Tour been a dream of mine, but it has also served greatly in the healing process. It has given me something to work toward, but also something to hope for. I’m incredibly grateful for this award and blessed to have the opportunity to be playing on the PGA Tour.”"Erik is a wonderful player and ambassador for our brands, but more importantly, he is a person that transcends the game of golf," said Wally Uihlein, CEO of Acushnet Company, which is comprised of Titleist and FootJoy." As Erik has said, golf has been an important part of his healing process, but he has also parlayed his success on the course to providing hope off the course to the thousands of transplant patients he has touched through hospital visits and those who have heard his compelling story. Further, there is no doubt he has played an integral role in saving the lives of others through his passionate message regarding the importance of becoming an organ donor. Erik is a deserving inaugural recipient of this award." When Compton was 9 years old, he was diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy, a condition that has forced him to undergo two heart transplants, the first being in 1992 at the age of 12. The Miami native began playing golf as part of his rehabilitation, and Compton went on to become the 1998 American Junior Golf Association Co-Player of the Year, a 2001 second-team All-America selection at the University of Georgia and a member of the 2001 United States Walker Cup Team.While playing on the Web.com Tour, Compton underwent a second transplant in 2008 after he suffered a heart attack and, with nobody around, was forced to drive himself to the hospital. Six months later, he played and made the cut at the PGA Tour’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic as a Sponsor Exemption. Compton won the 2011 Mexico Open on the Web.com Tour and later earned his PGA Tour card for 2012 after finishing 13th on the Web.com Tour's season-ending money list. In 2013, he earned his first career top-10 finish, a tie for fourth at The Honda Classic, and remained exempt for the 2013-14 PGA Tour season as he finished inside the top 100 in the FedExCup standings.Compton is involved with the Transplant Foundation and Donate Life America. With nearly 120,000 individuals awaiting an organ transplant, Compton’s efforts with Donate Life America aim to help raise awareness of organ donation and transplantation.

In this week's Titleist Tip from the Tour, we asked Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas to help us with an uphill lie. Bill led the Tour in 2013 with nine top-10 finishes. Solid ball striking and the ability to play well on any type of golf course are hallmarks of his game. Bill also ranked 21st in Greens-In-Regulation, proof that he knows a little bit about hitting his irons from any kind of lie.
Uphill lies can be be a problem because it's difficult to not only make solid contact, but also to hit the ball the proper distance. As Bill says, a big part of the issue is overcoming our natural instincts when we stand on an uphill lie:
"I think the common theme is to try to negate the slope by putting more weight on your front foot. It's just more comfortable to do that, that's how we stand. But my tip would be to try to angle your shoulders in line with the slope."
As Bill demonstrates in the video above, orienting your body correctly can simulate being on a flat lie. See if Bill's tip helps you when you're faced with your next uneven lie. And make sure to pay particular attention to his point about club selection.

The winning momentum of Pro V1 and Pro V1x continued this week across the worldwide professional tours, as four Titleist golf ball players stepped into the winners' circle.
Pro V1x loyalist Shanshan Feng provided a memorable finish at the inaugural Reignwood LPGA Classic, making eagle on the final hole to edge fellow Pro V1x loyalist Stacy Lewis at the wire.
On the Asian Tour, Scott Hend of Australia trusted his Pro V1 golf ball to win the Mercuries Taiwan Masters, ovecoming extreme weather conditions as well as a charge by Titleist Brand Ambassador Arnond (Bank) Vongvanij.
In Australia, 22-year-old Jack Wilson (Pro V1) captured his first career victory in playoff fashion at the Western Australia PGA Championship and in Korea, Titleist Brand Ambassador Do-Hoon Kim relied on a Pro V1x golf ball and a full bag of Titleist golf clubs to triumph as the last man standing at the Munsingwear Match Play Championship.
With four more wins this week, Titleist’s year-to-date victory count advances to 128 - more than three times the nearest competitor with 34.

LPGA TOUR: Reignwood LPGA Classic
At the inaugural Reignwood Classic, the LPGA's first tournament held in Beijing, China's Shanshan Feng (Pro V1x) eagled the par-5 18th hole after her second shot approach hit the pin and secured a one-stroke victory over fellow Titleist Pro V1x loyalist Stacy Lewis. Lewis, who led by one shot on the final hole, parred out before watching Feng convert her eagle putt for the two shot swing.
Feng finished with a 26-under par 266 victory total at the par-73 Pine Valley Golf Club. Both Feng and Lewis shot final rounds of 5-under par 68.
The win marks the second career LPGA Tour title for Feng, who made her first victory a major at last year's Wegmans LPGA Championship.
Titleist golf ball loyalists accounted for 51 of the 81 players in the Reignwood field, more than six times the nearest competitor.
ASIAN TOUR: Mercuries Taiwan Masters
At the Taiwan Golf and Contry Club on Sunday, players had to contend with torrential rain and winds of up to 55 mph brought on by Typhoon Fitow, but Pro V1 golf ball loyalist Scott Hend of Australia weathered the storm, winning the Mercuries Taiwan Masters for his fourth career Asian Tour title. Hend closed with a 2-over par 74 to finish with a 3-under par 285 victory total, four shots clear of his nearest competitor.
Titleist Brand Ambassador Arnond (Bank) Vongvanij of Thailand (Pro V1x, 913D2 driver, 913Fd fairway metal, 910F fairway metal, 913H hybrid, new CB irons, Vokey Design SM4 wedges, Scotty Cameron Select GoLo S5 putter) closed with a one-over par 73, one of the best scores of the day, to finish tied for third place.
Titleist golf balls were the choice of 70 players in the field of 118.
AUSTRALASIAN TOUR: Western Australia PGA Championship
Jack Wilson won the WA PGA Championship in Western Australia, topping fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Nick Gillespie (Pro V1, 913D2 driver, 913F fairway metal,MB irons, Vokey Design wedges) in a sudden death playoff.
Wilson, who is a third year trainee at The Kingswood Club in Melbourne, became the first trainee to ever win a PGA Tour of Australasia event.
In addition to the Pro V1 golf ball, Wilson relied on a full bag of Titleist golf clubs, inlcuding a 913D2 driver, 913Fd fairway metal, 712U 2 and 3 irons, MB irons, Vokey Design wedges and a Scotty Cameron Notchback putter.
Titleist was the overwhelming favorite golf ball in the 104-player field, with 83 players trusting their game to a Pro V1 or Pro V1x. In fact, each of the top five finishers and 10 of the 12 players who finished among the top 10 and ties relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.
KOREAN TOUR: Munsingwear Match Play Championship
It was an all-Titleist golf ball final four at the Munsingwear Matchplay Championship, where Titleist Brand Ambassador Do-Hoon Kim topped Young-Han Song (Pro V1x) in the championship match.
Kim birdied the first extra hole to win the title after topping fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Jun-Won Park (2 and 1) in his semifinal match. Song topped fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Heung-Chol Joo (2 and 1) in the other semifinal. Park edged Joo (3 and 2) in the consolation match.
Do-Hoon Kim relied on a Pro V1x golf ball for his success at the event, as well as Titleist golf clubs through the bag, including a 913D2 driver, 913Fd fairway metal, 913H hybrid, new MB irons, Vokey Design sand and lob wedges and a Scotty Cameron putter.
Titleist golf balls were the choice of 23 players in the field of 32, more than five times the nearest competitor with 4.

Some of the world’s best golfers have descended upon Dublin, Ohio to take part in this week’s playing of the Presidents Cup at Muirfield Village.
Over the course of the next four days, 34 matches will be contested - showcasing some of the top talent from the U.S. and across the globe.
And as each team looks to bank as many points as possible, more players in this elite field will trust Titleist golf balls (13 players) and equipment (10 players) than any other manufacturer at the Presidents Cup.
The list of Titleist Brand Ambassadors teeing it up this week includes Jason Dufner, Steve Stricker, Bill Haas, Zach Johnson, Webb Simpson, Jordan Spieth, Adam Scott, Graham DeLaet, Marc Leishman and Brendon de Jonge. Joining in the action, Pro V1 x loyalists Hunter Mahan, Louis Oosthuizen and Angel Cabrera will also be looking to chip-in for their teams as they set their sights on the cup.

In 2013, for the first time ever, 50 PGA Tour cards were made available through the Web.Com Tour – 25 for the Top 25 on the money list during the regular season, and another 25 for the top performing players (without a regular season promotion) during the Web.Com Tour Finals.
Amid all the changes, at least one thing remained constant: More players in pursuit of their PGA Tour status put their trust in Titleist when it mattered most. Among the 50 qualifiers for the 2014 PGA Tour schedule, 30 players relied on a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x for their success, five times the nearest competitor with six and more than all other competitors combined. Additionally, 14 players chose Titleist throughout their bag.
Before the Web.Com Finals began, Titleist Brand Ambassador Chesson Hadley had already qualified for a promotion with his third place finish on the regular season money list. That didn't deter Chesson from winning the Web.Com Tour Championship by two shots. Another regular season Top 25 finisher, Titleist Brand Ambassador John Peterson caught post-season fire down the stretch to earn the No. 1 spot on the Finals money list.
Also in the finale, Pro V1x loyalist Lee Williams saved one of the most memorable shots for the final hole of the season.
