Hey Chris,

I currently play 51 55 and 59 degree wedges, and I'm looking to upgrade. I play my 59 out of the bunker primarily, and from 90 yards and in, play the 55 from 95-105, and my 51 from 110-120. Just wondering what degrees of bounce you would recommend for these clubs.

Adam

hoping you can offer some suggestion's. I'm currently hitting cally X22 tour irons, cally FT 9 driver 11deg and a png G10 3 wood that is my fav. I really want to go back to a forged club. PW 125 9 135 8 145 7 155 6 165 5 180 4 190 3 200 24 deg Hyb 205 3wood 230 D 250 I don't hit my 3 iron often. All my irons have Project X 5.5's. My driver has a UST Proforce 69 series stiff. my 24 deg hybrid has a Fujikura M stiff. I would like a little more height for softer landings with my irons and also fill in the gaps. your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will be setting up a full fitting for early June soon. I would just really like a few things to think about till then. Regards Andrew

Hi Andrew,

The best way to find irons have better green stopping performance would be to go through a fitting.

Chances are if your iron trajectory is too low, there is not enough loft at impact (effective loft).

I would test the AP2 714 with PX 5.5 as a starting point and fine tune the flight from there.

Enjoy the fitting process!

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris, I'm looking to buy some 714 Ap2 irons in the next couple of weeks before the golf season starts. I was wondering if there is any Titleist Authorized Fitting Facility near Kelowna British Columbia. The only golf fitting place I can find so far is Golftown, and I was wondering if they are Titleist Authorized Fitting Partners. And if you know anywhere else I could go to get fitted. Thanks, Graham

Thanks Chris. I will be setting up a full fitting at the National fitting centre very soon.

Hi guys,

I've been playing a 712U 18* with the same shaft that I have in my irons (KBS C-Taper X) since I received it late last year. Back then, they were not a lot of "lighter weight, lower flighting" shaft being offered. That's why I went with the C-Taper. Having played it quite a bit (I was fortunate enough to not be in Canada during the winter), I do notice that it's quite hard to play when the ball is not sitting perfectly. I'd love to have something lighter (around 100 grams) that would offer a similar flight and feel. My guess is that the lighter weight will help me generate a few extra mph but will mostly help in the forgiveness department.

I've looked at the new 2014 options and I was wondering which off the following would do the trick?

NV105X

recoil prototype 95X

Steelfibers 110X (I don't think the 95X exist right?)

Dynamic Gold SLX100 (did not like the standard DGX100 so I'm not sure the SL would be my first choice)

Also, I know it's quite early but, any idea as to when the 714/715U will come out? ;)

Thanks for your help!!

Math

Hi Math,

If you are looking for a "similar" profile to C-Taper X but lighter I would suggest the following:

-C-Taper Lite

-Steelfiber 110

-PXi

The 712U is a very low spin product.  I have yet to see anyone over spin it.  I wouldn't be afraid to try a shaft that says "mid flight" as the biggest influence on launch and spin is the loft and CG of the head.

As for the release of 714/715U...We have no plans related to new a new release of 'U' product at this time.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for the insight Chris! Really appreciate it.

Chris...

You may have read that I changed my grips this winter from GP Oversize grips to the Jumbo Max Grips due to my issues with tennis elbow in my left arm. (I play right handed).

My question is related to swing weight. Although I have found I am hitting the ball well, I was wondering if perhaps the larger grips will have thrown off the swing weight and if so is there something I can have done to fix that?

Darius

Hi Darius,

When changing to a larger/heavier grip it will decrease the swing weight by a few points.

To add swing weight you can do the following:

-A heavier Surefit weight (in your 913D2)

-Lead tape for Irons, wedges, and, hybrid.

I hope this helps!

Chris

Thanks Chris...

I had not even thought about the driver. I will check that out when I go for my fitting for my rescue replacement.

I think it will be good to have a chat about my irons when I come for my fitting. Who knows - maybe I don't have to do anything. I know the club heads feel a lot lighter but that may not be a bad thing.

If it turns out to be a good idea to add some tape, it will be good to chat before I put any on to make sure I put it in the right place.

Hopefully the elbow heals (am seeing a sports therapist now) and I can get back to a lighter weight oversize grip. My AP1's came with GP Jumbos which I understand weigh in around 50 grams. The JumboMax grips weigh in at just over double that. If my elbow heals, I can then go back to a lighter grip and restore the clubs to their original feel.

Darius

Hi Chris, I currently am using a 913 D3 (LH)9.5 degrees adjusted to 8.75 degrees with the Diamana White 72 and I have a tendency to have a very high ball flight and, I think, to spin too much. It results in balls that are landing very soft without almost any roll. My swing speed is around 107. Should I change my shaft? Which one should I go to?
