Dear Titleist Technical Staff,

Can you tell me if the 913F fairway head is considered a Std. bore or a Blind bore. As long as I have your attention, what tipping advice would you use? The 1" or 1-1/2". I've seen both numbers being thrown around, I need the info for the trim code to install a new shaft Graphite Design YS-7+ Flex: Regular Thanks for any help on this matter.

With regards to the Diamana D+ (Whiteboard) found as a stock offering in our 913 line up, we do not tip these to install. Understanding you want a marginally softer flex than the X-Flex your thought process of taking a stiff flex and tipping it 1/2" is on the right path. Although not an exact science, a good indication on how it will play by tipping the shaft 1/2" is you are making the flex about 1/3 of a flex stiffer.

As for the torque in the shaft, the website is correct vs. the shaft manufacturers website. The stock Diamana D+ 72 (in stiff flex) is 3.3* and weighs in a 74 grams. If you are talking about the stock 910 generation Diamana Ahina shaft, then the torque ratings are slightly higher as the "made for" included a progressive torque based on flex; this would have the torques differ ever so slightly from the manufacturers website.

Quick question - I have been playing a Whiteboard D+ (Titleist 913 stock shaft) in xflex in my 913 D3 9.5 driver. I interpret that you don't tip these shafts coming from Titleist. If this is correct and I would like to soften (marginally) my flex to possible gain a few yards, I probably should buy a Stiff flex and tip it 1/2 inch instead of installing a x-flex untapped. Correct?

Also, your website shows the torque to be 3.3. The OEM shaft website shows 2.8. Is the Titleist stock shaft not a real OEM shaft or is it a "specially made for" shaft? I play this same shaft in my 913 13.5 and 18 fd fairways (from Titleist). I love them "as is" in the fairways but think I might benefit from a slightly softer flex in my driver. Feedback welcome.... I play DG S400 in my irons and they are perfect for my iron play if this helps.

We have done some research and testing through R&D and based on feed back most players preferred the Mitsubishi shafts without tipping. This also falls in line with how Mitsubishi handles their installation recommendations.

Our shafts go through strict quality control once received from the vendor to ensure they pass our specific tests (ie play to a specific flex, durability etc). With my personal experience, I would request to tip 1/2" as it seems you want to err on the side of more stiffer. I personally play a Mitsubishi Fubuki 73 Stiff that I have requested to have tipped 1/2" as I wanted the shaft to feel slightly "tighter" than the standard Fubuki.

Mat, Tipping is cutting a portion of the tip section of the shaft (the end inserted into the head) off. This effectively makes the shaft play stiffer as some of the weaker portion of the shaft (the tip) is removed. It can also lower the launch and spin.

Thanks for the answer Ryan. I alway's thought that (especially with the driver) every shaft had to be tipped an extra 0.5'' because the adapter increase the bottom of bore to ground measurement (BBGM) which made the shaft play softer. Good to learn that you did not always do so.

Basically, I'll be playing the following setup:

913D3 with Diamana D+62X (also going to order another D+62X tipped 1'' more than this one)

913Fd 13.5* Diamana D+82X

913H 17* Diamana D+102X

I want to make sure that they all play true to flex (at worst on the firmer side) to Mitsubishi's standard which recommends the following for the D+:

Driver: no tipping

3w: 0.5''

H2: 0.5''

Based on your experience and fitting process, what tipping (taking into account the surefit system) would you recommend??
