No sooner have we stopped than the next Race To Dubai begins - welcome to 2013!
Normally, it would be "On the range", but the weather in Durban this week has been terrible - so much so that the pro-am was cancelled yesterday and the first day of play has been delayed until tomorrow!
The Nelson Mandela Championship played at Royal Durban GC marks the start of the 2013 Race To Dubai - it seems only yesterday we finished the 2012 version!
The event is a great opportunity for players to get off to a strong start going into the 2013 season - especially those who graduated from the Challenge Tour Rankings or from Q-School Final Qualifying.
Two such players are Titleist ambassadors Espen Kofstad of Norway, who topped the Challenge Tour Rankings in 2012, and Morten Orum Madsen of Denmark, who came through Q-School Final Qualifying, both of whom starting off their first full seasons on the European Tour - we'll be looking out for their results over the next 12 months.
The event also marked the continuation of the seeding and performance evaluation process for the new Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x prototype golf balls. Many of the Titleist ambassadors and Titleist ball loyalists making their full debuts on the European Tour will be testing and evaluating the prototype golf balls for the first time this week - we'll keep you posted on the reaction.
