Vokey WedgeWorks Introduces New V Grind Wedges

The Vokey Design V Grind - offered in lofts of 54° through 60° with 10° bounce - is a unique wedge designed by Bob Vokey while working with tour players on the Titleist tour van.

Available June 15, 2016 through Vokey WedgeWorks, The V Grind is for players seeking a dual bounce wedge with increased bounce on square face shots, and enhanced relief for open faced shots. For full shots with a square face, the V Grind has high measured bounce forward on the sole, best for players with a steep angle of attack. However, when the face of the V Grind is opened, the wedge produces increased versatility through heel, toe, and trailing edge sole relief. This wedge is ideal for normal to soft conditions and for the player with a steep angle of attack.

PLAYER BENEFITS:

  • High bounce in the square position, with heel, toe, and trailing edge relief for enhanced shot versatility
  • Consistent distance and trajectory control through Progressive Center of Gravity
  • Maximum spin through TX4 Groove technology

“We’ve had a tremendous start to the season with SM6," said Bob Vokey, referring to the release of new Vokey SM6 wedges in March.

"Players love it, they’re clearly seeing the benefits of Progressive CG and TX4 grooves. One request we keep getting on tour is, 'I love the shape of the M grind, but I’d like some more bounce.' It got me thinking about one of my original grinds. The V Grind is one design that provides more bounce forward on the sole, with enhanced relief in the heel, trailing edge and toe. It’s a really versatile wedge around the green.”

"The forward bounce of the V Grind is essential in helping players lower ball flight on full and square faced shots," explained Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill. "The grind in the back of the wedge allows players to open the wedge and hug the ground a little easier for tight lies around the green. Tour players are always looking for lower flight but still need to have options around the green when hitting off of firm, tight turf."

Tour players currently using the Vokey V grind include Robert Streb, John Peterson and Ben Crane.
