Had my fitting today - Dan Friend at St Ives

Got there early. Is a nice venue.

Dan as suggested by his name was very friendly and patient!

Although I know I was told to relax, i couldn't help with being nervous.

Striking not as good as I can be, but not complete disaster. I think too often I tried to force the club to get more distance

But then got too arm-y or simply had no tempo.

In the end seem to be best with steel shafts for iron (a surprise), with an AP1/ AP2 combo, vokey wedges

With driver, wood and 2 hybrids.

Looking forward to get them asap

Once again, my thanks to Dan Friend and the rest of the titleist team.

The custom fitting is a fantastic experience.

Hi Sarah,

You raise some fantastic points in your post and I am sure that I can put your mind at ease over the options available to you.

When you arrive at the National Fitting Centre at St Ives, your fitter will make an initial assessment after watching you hit balls - there are no pre-conceived opinions based on age or sex or any other factor. Everyone swings the club differently and the whole process is based around you and the fitter finding the optimum fit for you. It's important that you also go to the fitting with an open mind as well.

The fitter will, in all likelihood, ask if you have a preference for an iron and that may well be your starting point. They will also discuss your aims / goals and take that into consideration - it is a very consultative and inclusive process.

You can try different head and shaft options and performance of each will be monitored by our fitter watching the flight of the ball and referring to the numbers shown on the Trackman launch monitor - all of this will show you which club is performing best for you.

Ultimately, the choice of clubs is entirely at your discretion - our fitter will make a recommendation, but what you order is your choice.

As I said, go along with an open mind, relax and enjoy the fitting!
