    Hey TT,

I'm in the process of changing my driver & have settled on the D3 head. I have been fitted by my pro (with Trackman) and am happy with the shape of the shot with the D3 9.5 degree in D4 setting with the Diamana S+ Blue 62.

Before I purchase via GolfStoreEurope - I was just wondering how ordering it at 44 inches would affect the swingweight, stiffness and anything else I'm forgetting?

(It is likely that I will opt for the Aldila RIP Phenom 60 Stiff cut to 44 inches if that makes any difference to the answer)

Many thanks for your feedback & help

    Hi Jason,

Have to admit to being a little confused as to why, after being fit on Trackman and being happy with the shape shot from the Diamana S+ Blue 62, you are then looking to order a different shaft.

It would be impossible to tell how an Aldila RIP Phenom 60 S-flex cut to 44" would perform differently to a Diamana S+ Blue 62 at 45" without seeing you swing with both shafts. It could alter your strike pattern and change launch conditions drastically.

Given that you are looking to order a different shaft and a different length to the one you were fitted for, it could even be the case that the 913D2 would perform better than the 913D3 head.

We would recommend that you have another discussion with your fitter before proceeding.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Neil,

Thanks for the advice... my fitting is not yet fully complete... I'm waiting on a RIP Phenom shaft to arrive to test also. I was also testing the TMAG R11s with their 'made for' Phenom which I really liked the feel of more so than the Diamana but the 913 head is significantly better to my eye. Last driver change was the 907D2 which is in the bag since 2008 so I place a great deal on the feel & visual set up of the club.

Will just have to play around on Trackman once the other shaft arrives & no doubt we'll get an optimal combo.

    Many thanks

    Hi Jason,

Glad to hear you are carrying on to make sure you have the optimal fit and totally agree that the visual set up is a key consideration.

    Keep us posted on progress!

    Best regards

    Hi Neil,

Finally got the final fit for the 913. Went with a D3 head with Aldila RIP Phenom 60 Stiff shaft. Went with 10.5 degrees with the option of turning it down 0.75 degrees to avoid having any appearance of offset by adding loft using the Surefit hosel to a 9.5 degree head.

Decided to go a slight bit shorter with 44.5 inches after speaking with my pro/fitter about better control and more consistent strikes from the centre of the clubface.

    Trackman numbers were good:

    • Clubhead speed was 95-97 mph
    • Spin rates were circa 3,000
    • Ball speed was decent at around 146mph

Order is gone in & looking to have it in hand for next weekend's competitions.

Thanks for the advice. Just finally, should the slightly shorter shaft affect the swingweight much?

    Really looking forward to delivery,

    Cheers

    Hi JC,

Glad to hear the fitting was a positive experience!

Going a half inch shorter will affect the swingweight slightly - possibly by 1 - 1.5 swingweights. If you have a strong feel for the clubhead, it may be worth requesting that the club is built as close to a specific swingweight as possible.

    Thanks

    Neil,

Thank you for the advice. It was a great experience using Trackman & analysing shot patterns.

Ok, that's not too much of a difference, can be easily offset if needs be. Can't wait to get it in hand & start making the most out of my drives.

    Cheers
