All of ohio's branch campises for d1 school play together, and its pretty much like high school. 5 guys play and you take the best 4 score and the low score between the teams win. Well our team isnt very good and i am normally playing as #3 and i average 87 in tournys while in practice i average 82 so apparently i suck at life when it comes to rounds when they matter. But i have been working on my swing mainly my lower body. I had never taken a lesson or known much about golf i just play and try to play good. And one of the guys noticed my left led my front leg breaks in towards my back leg in my back swing ranther than bending and flexing out. So all round i was having fun and i was focusing and repating to myself flex the knee, flex the knee so those two things i feel is why i shot a 77. That and i was lights out with. Before I got the AP1s I played Eye 2 irons. Originally the shafts on the 6-PW were mixed (KT-M stiff on 6-7, DG X on 8 iron, ZZ Lite stiff on 9-PW). On the field, I was getting 3 more yards with the 8 iron vs the 7 and the 6 iron was only 5 yd more vs 8 iron. Ironically the launch monitor showed the 7 iron was getting proper distance and there was a 25 yard gap with the 8 iron (the DCI 981 8 iron with regular shaft showed 19* launch angle and the Eye 2s were 13). I reshafted the Eye 2s to TT Lite XL - the 8-PW didn't change but got noticeable gains on the 6 and 7 irons (10 yard gaps between all the clubs). The reason I mentioned about changing set makeup is that I don't hit a 5 or 6 iron as well as I did 20 years ago (I also found a loss of distance in 2007 on a 6 iron vs 7 with a set of irons I carried for 28 years). My distance on 5 and 6 irons vary 10-15 yards with so-called good hits. From the 7 down thru the XW, my distance is pretty pinpoint. I have pretty consistent distance on the hybrids and fairway woods. For instance, I know my 5/26 will go right around 160 yards every time (I get 145-150 from the 7 iron).

Forum Post: Re: Just a quick shout out to Kevin Na

I agree man - he's having some pre-shot problems - but I'm sure he'll get past them. I play with a friend who had trouble pulling the trigger at one point, but he got past it.

I think any hecklers should be removed from the course immediately - I also wish these guys would stop yelling "get in the hole" even when a player is teeing off on a par 5 - how ridiculous is that.

Congrats to Matt - great win.

Forum Post: Re: Shaft advice

Hi Ben,

You have a few options to consider

1. It ain't broke so leave it. Good yardage and accuracy what's wrong with that?

2. Find someone with the same club but with a stiff shaft and see if it performs any better than yours.

3. Take the club to a fitter and see how it stacks up with the stats. This will give you accurate figures so you can see exactly what your set up is doing. Most importantly if it is working then you will get peace of mind to know that you don't need to change anything?

4. While at the club fitter, Compare your driver with the new 910 model (or others). This way you will be able to see if the latest Titleist club is better suited to you than your older model. The fitter will hopefully set you up with the best possible combination (shaft, head & adjustments) so you know exactly if the new is better than your old

if you do nothing at least you know what you have is working - for now. But when it doesn't work what then? You will start to blame the shaft and say its too stiff (exactly what my friend is doing). So by getting the stats from a fitter and comparing yours with the new stuff it will give you peace of mind to know that what you have does actually work for you (so don't change it). Or what you have doesn't work for you (so change it)

All the best on your driver journey

Forum Post: Re: On-Course Comparison Results

At a 22 handicap (been there - done that for too long), lessons will help your ball choice. More consistent ball striking will let you appreciate how a ball compares. Trying to see how a pitch checks up is hard to do when you still fire a top hit across the green with more regularity. How do your longer irons and hybrids/fairway/driver do? Do you still slice enough to know that urethane tour balls can spin off into the forest faster than a 2 piece distance ball? As you get more consistent you can try NXT Tour/Tour-S but DT Solo maybe the best choice for now. When your landings on the green become an issue with the ball stopping, then Pro-V1/X will be an option to work with along side the NXT Tours.. NXT is reliable for me, but has limited market availability. I just keep noticing that I lose a lot fewer balls per round with the NXT. Penalty strokes can hurt a score as much as short games leaving 35 foot putts.
