A Playoff Victory for Horschel at the Byron Nelson Championship

“I played really well the 2nd Round of THE PLAYERS. I felt like my game turned the corner and my caddy Josh Cassel walked down 17 last week and said he saw something in my game - ‘You know what, we're going to go next week to Dallas, to the Byron Nelson and we're going to win.’ I kept telling myself that today and just trying to believe what he was telling me.”

That positive mindset paid off on Sunday, as Titleist golf ball loyalist Billy Horschel (Pro V1x) won the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship with a par on the first hole of a playoff.

With the win, Horschel secured his fourth career PGA TOUR title and his first since capturing the 2014 Tour Championship for the FedEx Cup title.

Both playoff participants finished regulation at 12-under-par 268, with Horschel closing with a 1-under-par 69.

Third-round leader James Hahn (Pro V1x), who was in the same threesome in the final round, finished solo 3rd, one shot out of the playoff.

Titleist Brand Ambassador Jason Kokrak (Pro V1), who entered the weekend with the lead, finished solo 4th, one shot behind Hahn.

Four players tied for 5th place at 8-under-par 272, including Titleist Brand Ambassadors Byeong Hun An (Pro V1x), Bud Cauley (Pro V1) and Sean O’Hair (Pro V1).

Titleist Brand Ambassador Cameron Tringale (Pro V1x) and Titleist golf ball loyalist Joel Dahmen (Pro V1x) were among four players who tied for 9th as eight of the 12 players who finished among the Top 10 and ties relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

This year is the last that TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas will serve as host of the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship. Next year, the tournament will move to Trinity Forest Golf Club, located 10 minutes south of downtown Dallas. AS Billy Herschel noted, it’s a bittersweet move for many players.

“It's truly special place, City of Irving and Four Seasons, 35 years here. It's sad that it's leaving. I was never a fan of this course but came here and I won and now I am. I don't want to leave.”

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball choice at the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship with 107 players in the field of 156 trusting a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success. That’s more than six times the nearest competitor with 17 and more than all competitors combined.

Titleist was also the top choice of players in the hybrids (27) and irons (46) categories. Vokey Design Wedges topped the approach, sand and lob wedge (214) category. Scotty Cameron putters were the top choice in the putter (65) category.

Horschel’s win marks the 13th for Titleist golf ball loyalists this season, more than twice the nearest competitor with six.
