He went on to hit his approach within feet of the hole.

"I was trying to hit it as close as I possibly could," Ernst said in the post-round interview. "Just kind of if I stuck to my game, then whatever happened, happened. If I win, great."

The 22-year old rookie went on to birdie the closing hole of regulation to close with a 2-under par 70 and an 8-under par 280, qualifying him for the playoff. Ernst then converted a par on the first hole of the sudden death playoff to enter the winner's circle.

"Yeah, this feeling is unbelievable right now. Just at the beginning of the week not even knowing I was going to be in the field," added Ernst. "I was fourth alternate last time I heard, and then a couple people dropped out so I got in.
There are many exciting ways to achieve victory. And this weekend, five champions trusting a Titleist golf ball displayed a few that were particularly thrilling: a pair of breakthrough championship performances, a team effort, and a playoff-ending eagle.

At the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Pro V1x loyalist Billy Horschel outlasted the weather and outperformed the field with a final round 8-under 64 for his first career PGA Tour victory. Titleist Brand Ambassador Brett Rumford (Pro V1x) made a dramatic eagle on the first hole of a three-way sudden death playoff to win the Ballantine’s Championship in South Korea, for his fourth European Tour title. On the Champions Tour, the duo of Titleist Brand Ambassador Brad Faxon (Pro V1x) and Pro V1 loyalist Jeff Sluman captured the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf following a final-round 7-under 65 and 23-under total. Finally, Jose de Jesus Rodriguez entered the winner’s circle for the first time in his career when his Pro V1x golf ball dropped for a birdie on the second hole of a three-way, sudden death playoff at the Roberto De Vicenzo Invitational Copa NEC.

With three more official victories, players trusting a Titleist golf ball have now won 46 tournaments on the worldwide professional tours in 2013, more than four times the nearest competitor with eleven and more than all other competitors combined.

This is Team Titleist, let’s wrap-up the week…

• • •

PGA: Zurich Classic of New Orleans

Winner: Pro V1x loyalist Billy Horschel

Horschel sealed his win at the Zurich with a 27-foot birdie putt on 18, edging playing partner D.A. Points (Pro V1x), who also birdied the hole, by one shot.

"27 feet in the hole, first victory. You can't ask for anything else," said Horschel. "It's still pretty unbelievable."

Although the win marked Horschel's first PGA Tour title, he had been knocking on the door with three top 10 finishes in his past three tournaments — tying for second in Houston, tying for third in San Antonio and tying for ninth at the RBC Heritage a week ago. He has also made a PGA Tour-leading 23 straight cuts.

Horschel made a string of six straight birdies that ran from the seventh through 12th holes, moving him to 7-under on the round and 19-under for the tournament. Points birdied the 10th through 13th holes to stay on Horschel's heels.

Titleist was the most relied upon golf ball in the field of 156 with 104 players, more than six times the nearest competitor with 17. Titleist also was the overwhelming top choice in the sand, lob, and approach wedge (147) and putter (56) categories.

• • •

EUROPEAN/ASIA: Ballantine’s Championship

Winner: Titleist Brand Ambassador Brett Rumford

The win marked the fourth European Tour title for Rumford and his first in six years. He closed with a 4-under 68 to finish regulation tied with two fellow competitors at 11-under par. The threesome returned to the 18th hole, a par 5, and after Rumford saw his opponents fail to reach the green in two, he fired a brilliant approach to four feet and converted the eagle putt for the win.

“It was an absolute roller coaster ride of emotions out there this afternoon," said Rumford following the win. "Obviously my last five holes yesterday and front nine today got me in a great position to take this tournament.”

Rumford, who finished his third round with five consecutive birdies, took that run to seven when he converted a 20-foot putt on the first green and then fired his approach to five feet at the next. He then had three pars, but a bunker shot to three feet at the sixth sparked a run of four straight birdies. Titleist Brand Ambassador Romain Wattel (Pro V1x, 913D3 driver, 913F fairway metal, 913H hybrid, MB irons, Vokey Design SM4 wedges, Scotty Cameron 009 prototype putter) finished fourth at 9-under par, with World No. 7 Louis Oosthuizen (Pro V1x) a shot further back.

What's in Brett Rumford's Bag: Pro V1x golf ball, 913D2 (8.5) driver, 913Fd (15) fairway metal, 712U 2,3 and 4 utility irons, CB (5-9) irons, Vokey Design SM4 pitching (48) and sand (54) wedges, Vokey Design Spin Milled lob (60) wedge.

Titleist was the most relied upon golf ball in the field of 156 with 94 players, more than four times the nearest competitor with 22. It's amazing that it's my destiny to be the first Australian to win. It's incredible," said Adam.

Adam, who led the field in Greens in Regulation (77%), converted a 20-foot putt for birdie on the final hole of regulation, only to watch fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Angel Cabrera (New 2013 Pro V1x) nearly hole his approach shot for a tap-in birdie and force the extra session.

Replaying the 18th as the first hole of the playoff, both players got up and down for par with close chip shots. On the second extra hole, the 10th at Augusta National, Cabrera's 15-foot putt for birdie just missed, setting up Adam's heroics. As daylight fell, Adam drained a dramatic 12-footer for birdie and the historic win.

Playing with fellow countryman and Titleist Brand Ambassador Marc Leishman (New 2013 Pro V1x golf ball, Titleist 913D2 driver (9.5º), 913Fd fairway metal (15.0º), 712U 2-iron, AP 3-4 irons. Cabrera was the only participant to shoot four consecutive rounds under par (71-69-69-70). Leishman tied for 4th, four shots out of the playoff, and his best finish in a major championship.

WHAT'S IN THE BAG FOR 2013 MASTERS CHAMPION ADAM SCOTT:

Golf Ball: New 2013 Titleist Pro V1 golf ball
Driver: Titleist 913D3 (9.5º) driver with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI-8 X-flex shaft
Fairway Metal: Titleist 910Fd (15º) fairway metal with a Rombax Pro 95 X-flex shaft
Utility Iron: Titleist 712U (2)
Irons: Titleist MB (3-9) irons with KBS Tour steel shafts
Wedges: Titleist Vokey Design Spin Milled 248.06, 254.10 and SM4 TVD-K 60º wedges with KBS Tour shafts
Putter: Scotty Cameron by Titleist Futura X prototype putter

Congratulations, Adam!

• • •

EQUIPMENT COUNTS: Titleist was the most relied upon golf ball in the limited-field of 93 with 52 players, more than four times the nearest competitor with 12. Titleist also was the overwhelming top choice in the iron (19) and wedge (83) categories. The win is the sixth by Titleist golf ball players on the 2013 PGA TOUR, more than any other competitor.

• • •

EQUIPMENT NOTES FROM THE TOUR: Adam played the new Titleist 913D3 driver for the first time in competition this week after switching from the Titleist 910D3. His new 913D3 9.5º driver has an A-1 (neutral) SureFit Tour Hosel setting with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8, X flex graphite shaft at 44.75". Adam worked with Titleist Tour Representative Chris Tuten on the Wednesday of the Tampa Bay Championship to dial in a precision fit. Adam did not put the 913D3 driver into play in Tampa, preferring to work with it during his preparation weeks leading up to the Masters. Adam came to Augusta ready to put it in play and was extremely confident in his performance with it following several practice rounds. Scott cited that he was getting a higher ball flight without increased spin for longer carry distance with the new driver - which would be beneficial to him at Augusta National and going forward.

Adam also put a refined Scotty Cameron by Titleist Futura X prototype putter in the bag this week. He has been working with Cameron since December on the new long putter that provides the high MOI (Moment of Inertia) and path that Adam was seeking. While the design of the putter creates a high MOI, Cameron took the putter one step further by adding more stability to the face with perimeter weighting. High MOI combined with perimeter weighting gives this putter a very unique feel and performance. The putter is made out of aluminum and includes a balance bar and four tungsten weights that are positioned under four adjustable stainless steel weights in the far four corners of the putter for maximum MOI. The putter is 49" in length, has a 79º lie angle and 3º of loft.

• • •

NOTEWORTHY: The win is the ninth official victory of Adam Scott's PGA Tour career (he also won the 2005 Nissan Open that was reduced to 36 holes) ... A true global player, the victory also marks Adam's 20th win worldwide as a professional ... Adam, who has made 10 cuts in 12 career starts at the Masters, posted his third consecutive Top 10 finish at Augusta (2013/1, 2012/T8, 2011/T2) and fourth overall (2002/T9) ... Adam has played in five PGA Tour events in 2013, making the cut in each, while posting three Top 10 finishes ... He has finished in the top 15 in each of his last six starts in major championships ... Cabrera won the 2009 Masters in a three-way playoff ... In addition to Scott, Cabrera and Leishman, three other golf ball loyalists (Lee Westwood/T8, John Huh/T11, Tim Clark/T11) finished among the top 12 and earned a return visit to the 2014 Masters ... Clark, who posted a 5-under 67 on Saturday for low third round of the tournament, is also a Titleist Brand Ambassador who relies upon the New 2013 Pro V1, 913D3 driver, 913F fairway metal, 712U 4 iron, CB irons, Vokey Design SM4 pitching, sand and lob wedges.

Forum Post: Re: WITB: Adam Scott's Master's Winning Bag

Hi Jenny A,

From your post I suspect you were trying to enter the Adam Scott Memorabilia Giveaway. Some pros even believe that each ball has only one birdie or eagle in them

3) How often to they change or replace their wedges- Normally two or three times a year

Reasons/Superstitions- the grooves on the wedges will wear out over time and because of the amount of practice the pros put in with their wedges, they will need them replaced more often than amateurs

Blog Post: Video: Thaworn Wiratchant Masters Interview

Its a great honour to get invited to play in The Masters each year, and this year Titleist Pro V1x Loyalist and 2012 Asian Tour Order of Merit winner Thaworn Wiratchant received a special invitation to play in the years first major.

Team Titleist South East Asia caught up with Thaworn at the Thailand Open earlier in the year to chat about what the invitation means to him, what his expectations are and how he's hoping to do at The Masters.

Check out this video to see what he had to say. Firstly, it will fly lower and generate a little more roll. This will lead to even more distance for most golfers. The new Pro V1x will have a little more spin with the longer irons and metals, although is still the lower spinning of the two models when it comes to the Pro V1 family. Finally, there will improved durability with the 2013 model, meaning the golf ball will last longer (something that we have had a lot of positive feedback about).

We'd love to hear how you like the 2013 Pro V1x once you've had a chance to play it. Feel free to post on the forum and let us know. Cheers.

Tom Hutton
Team Titleist South East Asia Manager
