Or, you could do just the opposite (this is a joke).

1. Grip it and Rip it!

2. Clear the hips and boom it!

3. I didn't come all the way to "wherever you are" lay up!

4. If you swing hard enough the Centrifugal force will create a tornado!

I've never received this tip, but I thought I would give it:

Don't ask what shaft you should buy on an internet forum. Go get fit...with a real person - preferably a PGA certified pro.

An old TV tip from Lee Trevino regarding long fairway bunker shots.

Take one more club than you normally would use for that distance. So, if your ball was in the fairway & you'd normally hit a 9 iron you'd use an 8 iron from the fairway bunker. Choke down a bit, dig your feet in firm but keep your lower body quiet and swing only with your arms. Hit the ball first and try to pick it clean off the sand. The distance can be tweaked with how far you choke down on the club, 1/2" or 1", etc.

I've tried it and the results have been ok but I know I don't practice this shot enough.

One of the best tips I've ever heard was to put a cardboard box, like the ones that golf clubs come in, next to the ball facing the target. The key is to not hit the box. It forces you to come from the inside, not over the top. See how close you can put the box to the ball and still maintain solid ball striking.

[/quote]On the first point, when I start feeling like I'm trying to swing out of my shoes I always go back to something I heard somewhere (I wish I could remember who said this but working in golf, I hear a lot of these little quick tips):

I tell this one to my buddies - the less power I swing with the more distance and accuracy I have
Athletically ready stance (nose over knees over toes)
Concentrate on the ball through the entire swing and keep your head down

These 3 seem basic, but really helped me improve and I finally cracked 100 this summer with just these fundamentals!

One of the best tips I got was keep your eyes at the same relative position to the ground through your swing

Along those lines.... don't take the game too seriously. When you get a bit pee'd your game goes down the toilet and you make an *** out of yourself.

Focus on the front of the ball, the side facing the target, throughout the swing, helped me tremendously with my ball striking.

Recent Pelz's/Golf Digest - set your lead hand weaker on a bunker shot. This will keep the blade open on rotation through the swing. A normal or strong grip will decrease loft during swing, close the face to reduce the use of the bounce, and increase potential to blade the shot.
