I am a fairly decent golfer (hit the centre of the face almost all the time) but I struggle with a closed face at impact. I have been told by my local golf pro that I have a very technically sound swing. My usual shot shape is a baby draw, 4-5° in to out swing path with a 2-3° open club face. But lately I've been hitting over draws/hooks with a 3-4° closed face at impact. My grip is neutral to weak, I just can't seem to figure out why my club face is closing. What are main reasons for closing the face at impact when my grip or swing hasn't changed?

    Thanks

Sounds like the baby draw grew into an adult. Maybe you're grip is the same but you're setting up to the ball and holding the clubface closed. Or you're getting a little wristy at impact. Get some alignment sticks and hit some shots and pay attention to the direction of the divots. Practice the 9 o'clock toe up position as well as swinging through to a 3 o'clock toe up position. F & G!

    Hi Nick,

Id check your hips and follow through. My guess is that something in your timing has changed causing your hands to turn over faster than you are used to. You might be moving your hips more laterally towards the target causing a larger in to out path. Or you could be stopping your rotation early making your hands roll over too soon before impact.

You can also check your wrist at the top of the swing. A common problem for slices is that they cup the wrist when they overawing. You may have the opposite fault of bowing the wrist and closing at the top. Its hard to notice, because its behind your head and after that, the club head moves too fast.

I'm not a teaching professional but this is based on my own experiences.

    Hope it helps.
