Does anyone know of any good stretching props?  I have heard of the orange whip, just wondering if there is anything newer or better out there that anyone uses

    Marc,

I have been plagued with injuries the past few years because I took stretching (and strength) for granted.  I've found doing my work out first thing in the morning, stretching before and after really helps when I get to the golf course.  I use the orange whip religiously.  I also stretch the entire body with the whip bending, turning, calves, hams, lats, the entire body.  You really don't need anything else.  Your body will tell you what's tight and what's not.  Also, probably the most important time to stretch is after a round.  You can do it in a bath tub or better yet, a large hot tub.  This is key to keeping loose and injury free.  Also, at my local gym, I've found the most essential tool is a roller.  I roll my entire body after working out and then roll after golf. It hurts!!!  But if you keep at it day after day, you will roll out those nasty knots that cause injury.  There are no shortcuts, Marc.  Keep at it religiously and your entire health and golf game will improve!  Good luck!  Vern

Thanks, which length orange whip do you have driver, iron, wedge one?  Also, I was diagnosed today with a really bad case of tennis/golf elbow and dr said at least two weeks of no golf which sucks !

    Hey marc,

I have and use an orange whip which helps get me into a full backswing and slows down my downswing transition. however, I don't use it for stretching or mobility.

I've been  doing martial arts for decades and stretching is something that needs to be done regularly.  I do a full body stretch every night while watching TV.  the TPI site has lots of great exercises and stretches specific to golf. any amount you do will be helpful, golf or not.

    Marc,

I would echo what Steve said the My TPI site is a great resource for golf specific exercise and stretches. I was introduced to by my Physical Therapist while rehabbing a torn ACL... I still the site regularly.. I also would echo the other comment I saw about rolling as well in addition to stretching for deep tissue massage.. But could you tell me what a "Orange Whip" is? As far as props I use therapy bands (rubber cords and bands) along with a foam roller.. Other than that I do yoga and static stretches..

    Thanks

    Nickolas
