I am recovering from arthroscopy surgery where a bone spur was removed, and my bicep tendon and labrum were trimmed. The doctor said I could resume golf in about 6 weeks. I am undergoing physical therapy three times a week for the next month. When I get the green light to start practicing what are the first thing I should work on ? Putting, chipping, pitches, half swings to full swings in that order ? I would like to hear from those that have been there and done that.

I would suggest talking to your doctor.  When I had shoulder surgery, my doctor gave me limitations.  Lucky for me, my surgery was in February, so by April I was able to do anything as long as I could handle the pain.

    Carl,

I think the order you list is good.  I had elbow surgery five years ago and that is the sequence I worked through.  You can probably work on putting and chipping at the same time, as long as your backswing and follow though are shallow for chipping.  Once you are confident your shoulder is ready for more, then progress at a slow pace to the next level.  Don't over due it at any level initially, limit the amount of chips, pitches, half and full swings you take as you move up to the next level.  I know it will kill you to progress slowly, but it's better than reinjuring your shoulder.

Best of luck with rehabbing and getting back on to the course.

Thanks guys for the replies. Met with my doctor and he said I could start putting and chipping in a month. I think you are spot on Barry. I figure when I start it will be a long slow pace but I don't won't to go through this shoulder ordeal again. I'm guessing I may be able to play sometime in October but only if I am 100%. In a way I am looking as this as chance to really get in a lot of good practice and drills and work on my weakness, the short game.
