Wentworth By the Sea, a course Mark Twain never played.

One of the many reasons I love golf is the walk.  At most courses, there's wildlife, interesting flora, and good views, and if you're lucky, there's ocean.

I've walked a lot of tracks, and I can honestly think of no better walk then Wentworth by the Sea.  This old track is appropriately named as most of it's holes offer ocean or marsh views.  It's hilly and winds around the marsh through really old forests.  It's short and quirky, but far from easy. Small greens laden with subtle breaks just seem to ooze 3 putts from time to time.  There's a lot of forced carries that seem longer then they play on the card.  I honestly think you could play here for a whole season and not figure out everything this gem has to offer.  The conditions are pristine and the club boasts some fantastic architecture, but most of all, it's a simply stunning stroll.  When Mark Twain sputtered his infamous quote, I'm 100% sure he wasn't walking here.

I'll let the pictures do the talking...

Trying to focus on the shot instead of the views is a challenge all in itself.

New England golf at its finest.

If I can take a good picture here, you know it's scenic.

Love it!  Great write up and glad you had a great time there..  Everything you said about the course is dead on.   And boy did we luck out on the weather...   We'll definitely get out there again...

If you EVER get the chance to tee it up with Josh, it's a must.  Always a treat playing with this guy and great to have around.

16th hole, Par 5 w/ a 215 (give or take) carry over the ocean with a pretty sweet background.  Josh had no problem with this one almost reaching it in two.

Driver and a wedge to get home in two?

    :)
