In four weeks, I'm driving down to Myrtle Beach.  I've never been there, so aside from some great golf, I don't know what to expect.  I'll be there the week leading into Labor Day weekend, so I'm expecting heat and humidity, but I'm hoping to avoid one of those "I should have packed ____" moments.  Besides the clubs, balls, rain gear, shoes, gloves, ibuprofen and sun screen, what essentials should I bring?

    Thanks!

I always pack some insect repellant in my bag, just in case.  Mosquitoes in coastal Carolinas can be vicious, especially at dusk.

Extra patience will definitely be needed with traffic and logistics.  I would second the bug spray.  I sometimes keep a small first aid kit in case of blisters or stings, etc. Also I carry several bigger towels and use the gatorade or tour size towels instead of skimpy hang on your bag golf towels.

I've played a lot of courses in Myrtle Beach.  Not sure I have found a bad one.  Depending on the course, there can be a lot of blind shots or water in play.  I either make sure I bring a GPS to get a visual or look online at the score card before I play.  Enjoy...love Myrtle Beach...great dining at Sam Snead's Oak Grill and Tavern.

Unfortunately, my GPS is no longer supported by the manufacturer and I won't be able to download any of the courses I'll be playing.  I'm torn in the GPS v Laser debate, but you can bet I'll be looking at the on-line course "tours" and even buying yardage books if available.  You just have to know what's over there before hitting those blind shots.

And thanks all for the bug spray advice - that was one I hadn't considered.

I can't play in that heat and humidity with one glove. Be prepared to use 2-3 or more while playing there.

I definitely agree with Don about having multiple gloves available to rotate during rounds. You also might look at a 2nd pair of shoes and alternate. And definitely you'll need a hat or two. All things considered, there are many golf shops in Myrtle Beach in the event that you forget something or run out of things. With driving, have you checked your directions? If you haven't driven down lately, there are a few newer highways that you can pick up in NC. Steve
