Vokey sm5 raw black

As per GolfWRX you can use naval jelly to strip it, don't think coke or pepsi will work on the black ox

Haha why fired?

I stripped my SM5 46. Took a little more effort removing the QPQ.

I was going to suggest this but I see you beat me to it. I know a guy who did this with a Scotty Cameron putter that had a black metal gun finish. The coke took the finish right off.

did you use navy jell, vinegar, or just plain coke? Nice pics!

I pulled the head and soaked it in vinegar for approx. one hour. While submerged, I uniformly scrubbed the head with 3M 00 and 000 steel wool.

Perhaps a dumb question, but why pull the head?   Would it not be advisable to attempt this with the club intact?

just going to put my 2 cents in, I would remove the head so not to cause any possible damage to the shaft and I am not aware how the epoxy would hold up in those conditions. This is also coming from someone that has access to all the right tools.  I am sure you could do it with the shaft attached, you would just have to be more careful when scrubbing not to damage the ferrule.

Some other cool effects you can do with a raw wedge is to torch it which will giving it some colour, you will want to make sure that the head is cleaned and free of any oils and the paint fill removed.
