    Hi everyone,

I am hoping that I can get some help selecting some Vokey wedges.  I just ordered a AP2 714 iron set 4-PW yesterday and am looking to close the gaps with 3 Vokey wedges.  I currently have 52, 56, and 60 degree wedges in my bag and am a little overwhelmed with all Vokey has to offer with their new SM5 wedges (I've never owned a Vokey).

I am leaning towards a 50.08F wedge, a 54.10S wedge, and a 58.08M wedge, per the advice and recommendation listed on the Vokey site.  I usually play in normal to firm conditions and would only say that I take deeper divots if conditions are soggy out or I mishit the shot.  I would use my 58 for everything from face up shots inside 75 yards to tie lies, flops, green side, and some bunker shots depending on the tightness of the shot/lie.

I am mainly concerned with the bounce/grinds of the wedges.  Any help/advice that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much!!

    Hi Jake,

    Great question.

It sounds like you are spot on in your thinking of which grinds will be right for you.  The S grind is designed for individuals looking to play shots with a more square face.  The M grind is designed for individuals looking to play shots where they have to manipulate and open the face more, which is what it sounds like you will do with your 58.

The first thing to address when selecting a set of wedges is determine what lofts will fill your gaps.  Second is determining what grinds are ideal for the conditions you play in and the shots you like to hit.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks Bubba,

In terms of filling the gaps, I currently hit my PW 135-140 and am hoping that the 50 degree will get me to that 125-130 gap and the 54 down to say 115.  My main problem is from 90-115 where I need to either throttle up or down on my 56.  I believe that the 54 and the 58 will help make it a little easier to have a fuller swing from say 90 yards with the 58 and 100-115 with the 54.

    Thanks again for the advice.

    Happy to help, Jake.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Enjoy the wedges!
