The launch of the new Vokey TVD wedges has generated lots of excitement on the boards. And many folks are asking for some clarification on the differences between Vokey Spin Milled 5 (SM5) wedges and Vokey TVDs.  A picture tells a thousand words, so we thought that the following images of the wedges as you would see them in the address position might help to show the subtle differences.

Just click on the images below for high-res versions with some added detail.

Which new Vokeys will you be putting in the bag?

Thanks for the comparison shots. The difference in the toe is pretty difficult to see, the area around the heel is clearly different.

I would think having each in hand will make the differences more noticeable

  3. Can you please post a comparison of the soles for a sm5 k grind 60* vs tvd k 60* and sm5 m grind 60* vs tvd m 60*???

    Thanks!!!

    Trav,

Whether it's on a TVD or an SM5, the same sole grind is going to look virtually the same in a photo. However, we are currently in the process of producing some video content that will dive into the wide array of Vokey sole grinds that we offer.  I think this content will give you a much clearer view and will also provide detailed explanation and comparison of each grind and the performance benefits that each grind achieves.  We'll keep you posted as soon as we have more information.

    Hope this helps!

  5. Thanks for the reply Rick!  Can't wait for the video!

i played the TVD's SM4's all of last year and wore down the grooves enough to where i needed new wedges. Ordered the new SM5's in the California Chrome and was not really pleased with the cosmetic look of them. The SM5 has the high toe round as you can clearly see in the posted photos. I was so use to looking down and seeing the flatter more rounded toe that the TVD's offer. Ordered the new TVD's SM5's and now i'm happy. The SM5's and the TVD SM5's have the same playing characteristics.can't tell any difference in the feel or performance between the two. For me it is strictly cosmetics. The TVD's just look good to my eye.

I think the video would be great to demonstrate the differences. I have had both the TVD and now have the SM5's.  I love them both. There is nothing better than a new wedge
