So I dropped my 60* SM5 on the concrete leaving some scuffs/scratches on the back of the club. Doesn't mess with playability but I still like to keep them looking as fresh as possible. Is there some sort of way to buff these out or make them less noticeable? If I send it back to Titleist can they do anything? If so, how much would it approximately cost?

You can try using a Dremel tool which is a variable speed drill/cutter/polisher. Most hardware stores and Sears would carry this tool. You could also try an emery cloth with some rubbing compound if the scratches are not too deep.

You can send them back to Vokey to have them refinished and buffed/polished through the Wedgeworks program.  It probably depends upon how deep the scratch is whether they can get it out or not.  Also depends upon the finish.  See the link below.

Personally, I think these clubs are to be used.  I do like them to be perfectly clean with no dirt after every shot, but just by the nature of using them they are going to get scratched up.

Below are the before (from December 2013 when the wedge was new) and after (from May 2014) pictures of my current 60 degree wedge.  Personally, I think it plays a little better (obviously this is just in my head) once it gets a little broken in.  Hoy don't see the scoff marks, rust, etc. slowing this bad boy down.  This wedge had been good for two hole outs this month already and many more up and downs.

A Dremel tool will get these scratches out easily. The tool will come with a polishing compound made for metal. I bought mine at Home Depot. If you feel uneasy about doing it your self, you can practice on some old irons or any metal objects around the house that needs brightening up. It comes with instructions. Even a caveman can use this simple tool. I use it on all of my clubs at the end of the season to keep them looking new.

Thanks for the feedback! I have access to a Dremel tool and will see what I can do with it on some old irons before using it on my Vokey.

    Appreciate the help all!

    hey, Ryan!

I feel your pain, buddy.  When i got fitted a few years ago, I strapped my spanking new bag with spanking new complete set of clubs on a golf cart.  They were less than a week old.  Lo and behold, the cart strap came loose and my beloved sparking clubs and bag slid down a cart path scratching every club and my bag!!!  I almost made a grown man cry.  But... there was a silver lining!  I now had lost the preciousness of the clubs and hit the living daylights out of them so I could completely use them up and get another sparkling new set!!  Anyway, long story short, I hit and hit and hit those clubs and became a very good player because of that happy accident.  I agree with Mike C., clubs are to be used and hit and then hit some more!  Use that wedge until the grooves are gone, then get another and another and another and do the same.  You'll be amazed how low you can go!!!

    Good luck, buddy!

Yeah, I know what you're saying. As much as I play I have always wanted to keep them looking clean as possible. I will just finish out the season and see what I want to do at a later time!

    Thanks!

  9. When you send your wedge(s) back to Vokey for refinishing are they able to regroove the grooves? Make them like new again?? Just curious...not seen any discussions on this yet.  If thsi is a silly question, sorry...just curious.

    Thanks, Chris

Hey Chris - My understanding is that they only clean and buff and polish the head, along with installing new shafts, grips, paint fill, etc.  They don't re-groove the grooves or re-chrome the heads.  It's purely cosmetic.
