  1. Here in So. Cal, our public courses are strained by drought conditions leaving green hard under foot. Which grind works best for 25 yards out on these limiting conditions where the soil is hardened?

i am leaning towards 58 or 60 loft

    Hi JMonaco,

The drying grounds out where we are were definitely in mind before I went in for a fitting on May 5th. It's a great thing that Titleist just put out a Titleist Thursday fitting schedules that anyone of us can get on for 40 minutes.

In my experience, the rep and I talked a little about my golf and we went right in to the fitting process. From there on I didn't have much to do except hit different wedge shots- sometimes he'd ask me to do smaller shots... I left all the grinds, loft/lie composition, and the bounces for him to come up with while he watches me play different wedges. Other than it was a lot of fun to do, he came up with the same three wedge set I currently play with the proper spec.

He said, I'll be fine in soft or hard conditions with the composition set recommended- I'll be ordering mine in this week.

Here's the link for you to schedule:

    Keep hydrated this summer!

    50.08F
    54.08M
    58.08M

The only difference was the 54.12 I had (no grinds- old school). Also, the cool thing was the rep called/pointed out where the wear on the soles of my 54 & 58 before he even saw it. I'm happy and feel confident it will work out.
    Thanks.
  5. The E Grind is perfect for hard conditions...as well as low bounce.

    Hey JM,

This condition requires low bounce on your wedges. The lower the better. The conditions you cite are exactly the conditions that Lee Trevino learned how to play golf and he was probably the best Professional wedge player ever. Lee was a big believer in not releasing during the swing so as to maintain maximum forward shaft lean. If you learn this shot you will find it produces the greatest amount of back spin and will also flight the ball trajectory lower for better trajectory control. Do a YouTube search on Trevino and "wedges" and then watch and learn. It will improve you game.

    Best Wishes,

    DV
