Rusting wedge already!

MBlankenship

I own a brand new vokey SM6 steel gray 54 M grind less than a month old. Played 1 round with it, hit 4 shots off favorable lies except one from sand. No bare lies or anything terrible for finish. I wipe clubs off after we shots. I HATE rust on clubs, and have had none on any I have owned. I am not one of those "rust adds spin/character to your wedges" guys. I am aware that scratches and dings happen, but this club is starting to rust already after about 10 to 20 shots with it. This club did not advertise a "raw finish" and I have not heard of it happening with this before. What the heck is going on? This is my first Title is club and it might be the last, at least for wedges. The dark spots on face, not the grooves, are rust beginning to form already.

That's odd for the steel grey, I used a 50-54-58 for
2 months, and never got one spot of rust.

Sure someone from Titleist will reply to this.

I have the same club never had a problem with my wedge...

I also don't like the weathered look. I just ordered the 48.08, 54.14 and 60.08 all in the Tour Chrome finish because I'm hoping they're least likely to rust. Where did you get it? Any way it could be counterfeit?

    Hi Mark,
I'm very sorry to hear about your new Vokey wedge. Please take it back to your pro shop and have them contact our Warranty department. The Warranty department will take a look at it and get this resolved as soon as possible.

Hi Mark, I have played the wedges (starting with the 5s) and never ever had any issues. To me the club face looks really odd and I'd question the source to be frank. I can't imagine Titleist quality check to have missed a surface failure. Return it and habe them check asap!

Is the face hardened on the SM6 as it is on the SM5 model?

I always wipe them down with WD40 so they wont rust.

Wipe down with a damp towel and a rub with the dry end takes all the debris off my raw finsh heads and they show no finish change in the four months they have been in the bag. JAT.

WD40 will remove the finish on some clubs. Great on steel shafts though.

If you're really afraid of rust, I'd recommend using a food grade silicone spray. Spray it on before/after rounds. Dries quickly with no mess. Highly recommended by the Scotty Cameron collectors.

I have never had the finish come off. To me it keeps them looking new. I'm really picky about my clubs looking good. I hate dirty or rusty clubs. I use it on my AP1, SM4, and now my SM6 with no problem

Interesting to see so much hate for rust. Vokey raw/rusty wedges are some of my favorite wedges I've ever used-- so much so that I just ordered two new wedgeworks Vokey raw wedges.

Ok great. Just don't use WD-40 on Scotty Cameron Gun Blue or Pro Platinum finishes, among others. It will take it off.

Hi Mark, did you end up getting a replacement from Titleist?

I'm facing the same issue - 3 rounds and I'm seeing 7-9 rust spots already.

I bought the wedge from a big brand store in Indonesia, but there are plenty of counterfeits floating around here. 'fraid I got a fake one...
