Having been fitted for my woods(titleist , hybrids(titleist) and irons and having them shortened and regrouped based on my height; I was asking the fitter if I should have my wedges shortened and although he said it was a personal preference, he recommended against it, torque, flex issues, etc. ( I opted not to shorten)

I upgraded to a set of Vokey (52, 56, and 60) and I have the same question, as my wedges are longer than my short irons; I believe it affects set-up, swing and my consistency.

    Any thoughts....

Listen to your fitter. Wedges can be custom ordered to match you irons.

I would listen to your fitter.

I've special ordered my irons and wedges all 1/2" short, for consistency, despite my height suggesting them being a lot shorter (I'm 5'2", my clubs should probably be 3" short, but my swing is built for choking down 1/2" from a standard length).

I choke down for some shots, so that mimics a shorter shaft without changing the flex as much as cutting them down that far would have.

I don't take full standard swings with my 62. I occasionally take full standard swings with my 56, but only when I am at the right distance. Otherwise I am taking partial swings with my 46 or 50.

Thank you Nano, most of my readings, questions and observations have seen choking up a half inch as a solution as well.
  6. My SW is plus 1 inch. Had to replace my 60 (which was plus 1 inch) which got left behind somewhere.
The new 60 is standard length and I play it much better. Is there something to this?

if the weather cooperates just a little this week, I will use my new wedges and let you know how they worked. I am playing with standard length shafts.
