Hi,

Do you guys know if there is any difference between the Vokey TVD K grind, and the new SM5 K grind?

Ryan

Chris W

Hi Ryan,

Here are some differences between the TVD and SM5 K grinds:

SM5 K grind

-Available in 58, 60

-Bounce is 11 degrees for 58/60, with a slightly wider sole vs TVD K

-TX3 grooves

TVD K grind

-Available in 56, 58, 60

-Bounce is 10 degrees for 58/60

-TVD Shape is a bit rounder with a shorter par height (heel height)

-SM4 grooves (currently)

Thanks,

Chris

Hi there,

I am contemplating making a shaft change to my 710 AP2s and I am looking for an opinion.  I currently play the stock DG S300s.  Last Summer, I decided to replace my Vokeys with 3 new SM4s that were shafted with Project X 7.0's (bent 2 degrees flat; fantastic eBay deal that I couldn't pass up).  I absolutely love the feel of the wedges and really hit them solid (carrying a 56 degree close to 110 yards).

My issue now is that I don't seem to strike the AP2s all that well anymore.  They are standard loft and lie and I feel like I balloon them (and they just don't feel anywhere near as solid as the Project X  wedges do).  After doing some preliminary research, I was thinking of going to Project X 6.0's in my AP2s.  Any thoughts?

I tend to swing a 5-iron between 90-95 miles per hour (5 iron carry around 180-185).  My miss tends to be a pull or a pull-hook.

Thanks!

Chris W

Hi BStew,

In your case, Project X may just fit your swing profile better than DG.   So PX may feel better, but I’m not sure it will fix the spin issue.  If you do decide to re-shaft and there is still too much spin, I would suggest getting the lofts bent a little strong.   Loft will have a bigger influence on spin than most shaft changes.

I hope this helps!

Chris

Chris,

By a little strong, are you thinking 1 degree?

Thanks for responding - I appreciate the help.

Hi BStew,

I would start at 1 degree.

Thanks,

Hi,

just had a fitting using Trackman for a set of AP2 714's, tried multiple shafts in the 6 iron (90 mph). DG  S300  launched at 25 degrees with 6000 rpm.  Project x 5.5 launched at 24 degrees with 5400 rpm. KBS C taper  (S) launched at 21-22 degrees with 4800 rpm. Carry distance was 180, 185, 190 in the same order. The C taper is lighter and feels so solid at impact. Can't wait to get them and the snow to go.

Hi,

Emailed Vokey, and when the SM 5's come out in March TVD lineup will switch to the new grooves.

Hey fellas. I'm in Nova Scotia and I want to be fit for driver this year. 913 d3 right now. Are there going to be any outdoor fittings this year in Nova Scotia? As of right now there is now place around with a track man or any assortment of shafts to try.

Whit

Where at?

Hi,

Out in Calgary.

Correction for my launch angles. I listed Dynamic loft by mistake. Launch was 21, 20, 17.

Chris Looking at purchasing a Scotty putter and was wondering one if there is such a thing as a putter fitting and two what does it entail? Really like the Futura Dual Balance.

Chris Considering a club fitting. I purchased a set of AP1's and was considering getting a fitting. How much is it for a set of irons and even a whole set of clubs and what is the process?

Chris W

Ryan G,

There will be an update to the Wedgeworks program in the upcoming months.  I would keep checking Vokey.com and Team Titleist for further details!

Enjoy your new irons!

Thanks,

Chris
