Well - It is that time of year again where most have already made (and probably broken) their New Years Resolutions :)

Time to start hinking of setting our goals for 2015 as it relates to our golf game. Be it play a specific course that has been on your bucket list, finally break down and purchase the new equipment you've been thinking of, setting a target for your handicap, or committing to playing golf for fun and avoid frustration through attitiude.

My goal for 2015 is to focus on my putting skills, enjoy every round, and make the top 5 in the club championship.

    ( Hey - have stretch )

What are your goals for 2015 ?

Good topic Darius, I've been thinking about setting some 2015 goals for the last couple of weeks. I think my biggest goal for the year is to knock a couple of points off my index. I had the same goal last year and was able to bring it down by a point, so for this year my goal is to get to a 2.0.

The only way I'll accomplish it, is to improve my driving accuracy. That was a goal last year and at times I had improved but other times I digressed. I really need to get to the point where I'm hitting over 60% of fairways. I had a Trackman fitting in November and there were a few things that stood out in the data. I had an outside to in path and negative angle of attack. I'll be working on getting back to a inside to out path/positive angle of attack.

I've made a few changes to the equipment as well. I'll probably make a few more prior to the start of the season to give me the best chance of shooting lower scores. And last but not least I'll be looking for an instructor to work with.

The start of the season is less than three months away.

My biggest golf goal for this season is to break 80. I know I'll have to practice, practice, practice but I am up for the challenge. Now I can't wait for spring to get started......

    Happy New Years TT!

I booked my first lesson for 2015 next week. My goal is to lower my handicap and increase number of rounds played. I will be focusing on short game. 50 yards and in. I have the new 915 metals and new Futura X5 in the bag now so I am ready

    Cheers

After suffering through injuries to my shoulder and then my back over the last two seasons, my main goal,is to play more golf this year. I only got in 12 full rounds last summer. Unacceptable. If I can get my game back in shape in any kind of time, I'll look to play some tournament golf again this summer.

    Cheers andHappy New Year!!

My goal is to sharpen up the short game and hopefully knock off those last few strokes from the handicap :)

Yeah, always great to hear what everyone is looking to work on! My first goal was to finally join a club and that was accomplished! With an amazing practise facility, I will look to play more this year and really focus on a lay up distance when approaching greens. I did take lessons last year and found a great instructor who really helped so I am looking forward to working with him again this year. Hopefully we can look back at this post mid and end of season to see how everyone has done!! Good luck to all!!

My goal for 2015 would most definitely be the long ball from driver and fairway woods, a little more consistent  hits would benefit my score hopefully

My 2015 goal is to work more on my short game and putting.  If you can get up and down consistently you can save so many shots per game and we all know we don't hit all 18 in regulation very often.  I got a nice new Cameron Newport 2 and can't wait to hit the greens!  In the mean time the carpet and the tim's cup are going to have to do!!

I'm very anxious for the up coming season. I recently got new shafts for my driver and 3 wood. I will need to spend a bit of time to get used to them I'm sure. I definitely need to speed time on the short game. 50 yards and in last year were not a good experience. That being said, Hope everyone is doing well and have had a good off season so far. Stu

My number 1 goal for this year is to get my putting back on track - especially from inside 5-feet :-(.  Number 2 is to improve my ball control. I finally managed to work out how to deliberately fade the ball last year and now have to improve the consistency of the fade.   And then I need to get out and play more - really looking for ward to that !!   :-)

I am looking at building a better putting game. I average 31-32 putts per round.

I have a 2 hdcp and would like to bring it down to scratch.

I also want to be more focused and aggressive on the course. I am a laid-back person that plays golf for the social aspect. I would like to stil keep the fun but always be 100% committed and concentrated to each shot.

Sebastien - I know exactly what you are talking about. I too am a very social golfer and play the game for the camaraderie and the exercise.  However, like you and everyone else, I strive to get better. The difficulty you express about trying to both have fun AND be 100% committed and focused on each shot is a huge challenge. It is tough to zone in and out that many times over the course of a round.

If you come up with a mind trick that helps you do that, please share :)

I wish you all the best working your way to scratch.

    Darius
