Just finished the semi finals in match play at my club. Played a guy who outdrives me by 70 yards. I trailed the whole match, as much as down 2 after 14. Switched golf balls from the Pro V 1x to a Pro V 1 and went 1 under on the last 4 four holes to win 1 up. TSN turning point was 17, a par 3 where I hit to six inches in front of the hole, and ended up 6 inches past the cup. From 10 feet or less I was 8 and 1 on par putts.  My Newport Select 2.5 stays balanced even when I am not. As you get older, you start to wonder if you can still perform at a high level. Thanks to Scotty Cameron and Titleist, for one more week I am going to think I can.

Congratulations on your win. Sounds like the putter was certainly working for you.

As much as I like to use the ProV1 in the spring and fall, and use the ProV1x in the hotter weather of the summer I will typically stick to only one version in any round.

Fortunately for you, the "One Ball Rule" that caught Phil Michelson during the President's Cup does not apply to tournament play at the Club level unless your local club had decided to institute that rule specifically for your events. It is generally only a rule that is in effect at the professional level and as such we can change balls as often as we want as long as it is after the completion of a hole.

Best of luck in your Finals Match !!!  Looking forward to hearing how you make out.

Well played Brad! As we talked about at Eagles Nest last week, keep it in play and make some putts. It doesn't matter how far you hit it, just find it and roll it in!!. One match go go, keep rolling the rock.Congrats.

Played against a guy with a 7 handicap like myself, and he hit every fairway and every green for the first 13 holes. I hit the ball reasonably well( a couple bad shots, but I am supposed to, I am a 7 handicap). At one point I was 1 under during a stretch of 6 holes, and I only won one of them. It was over on 13, and I did not play that bad. The greens had been punched two weeks previous, and they were bumpy. It makes it especially hard when you are trying to chip close just to half the hole. You just don't know what the ball is going to do. I did not save any strokes on the greens, and I needed to just to have a chance. If we could have played a month ago, I think it would have been much closer.

Congratulations on getting into the finals. Second is still a great result and something to be very proud of. All the pros talk about how they take something away with them when they don't win. We all learn from when things don't go exactly perfect. After all, it is rare that we have those rounds where everything is totally in the zone and you are playing unconscious or on a different plane.

Well done, and good luck in your next challenge !

Sorry you didn't win, Brad.  Seems like you came up against a guy who happened to catch lighting in a bottle that day.  Sounds like he got the lion's share of the good breaks on those "plinko" greens.  Better luck next year!

    Regards,
