    Hi Team Titleist,

With the last golfing competitions of the season coming to an end. It's almost time for the practice stage where we pile all our layers on and put all our efforts into perfecting our swing for those long awaited summer months and summer golf again.

Therefore, we want to know what will you be practicing?  What shots do you struggle with when you play golf and what tips would help you improve your game?

I know for me I need some tips on how to keep my practice range sessions fun and beneficial instead of just hitting all my golf balls as soon as possible! What would help you?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

    Best,

    Hannah

Its time to hit the indoor simulators to work on my driving and then the practice green to work on the putter stoke... that always needs help ...

I have to have a checklist to make sure I stay on task.  I hit the range, weight room etc.  I built a putting green in my gym downstairs, not very big, but I can concentrate on 11 footers and in.  As I get older (60), I find the old body needs more and more to stay in great golf shape.  I love the game so much, it really is not a big deal.  I consider it payment up front for what will be "pay back" come tournament time.  Keep it in the fairway!!

Hannah I find it much more fun if I go with someone else. We warm up then have a mini competition aiming at different flags and playing different shots. Keeps me motivated during the winter!
  5. Ill be working on my putting and chipping. The ball doesnt fly as far on the range and if its too cold it doesnt feel great to hit full shots anyways right now. Short game practice is where I plan to spend a lot of time this winter.

Good question, I hate to hit range balls but to just keep limber and swinging I plan to travel to an indoor range once every two weeks.  I have also amped up my morning exercise routine.

End of December we return to southern Alabama.  Based on my stats from the 160 games played so far this year my sand saves were deplorable.  So I hope to get with my Pro for a lesson.  I used to be good out of bunkers but seem to be unable to get out and put the ball close enough for a one putt.  Second lesson, driver tuneup, I don't think I'm hitting center clubface as often as I should, maybe distance could be improved.

Rest of my game I'm satisfied with, hope I don't struggle too much early season.

I've just started working with a new coach with the aim of getting down from 6 into the holy grail of Cat 1!

Consistency with my driver has been one of my biggest downfalls over the years, so that's what i'm going to be working on this winter. I've never been a huge lover of hitting the range as I have a tendency to get bored hitting ball after ball!

However my coach has given me a drill to work on which has kept me interested. I pick 2 targets on the range, a fairway width apart to create a target fairway. I then hit 10 drives and count how many balls landed in this make believe fairway, I make a note of this number and then try and beat it. So far my best is 5, so still plenty of work to do!

Rather than hit 10 drives in a row, i'll hit one, then hit an iron shot - try and replicate what would happen on the course as best as possible. I've found i'm hitting more balls per range session and getting through all the clubs in my bag, rather than just PW, 8, 6 and woods!

My short game is poor so I'll be concentrating on that this winter.  Pick a target and hit different clubs to achieve the same result. High wedges, low bumps, knock downs etc. I will also hit medium irons as well to try keep my swing going.  I much prefer to go to the range with a plan rather than just hitting balls.

I still play throughout the winter though, weather permitting of course

    Hi,

I have one of those 10'x10'x20' cages set up in my garage with a high quality mat. I've built all kinds of gizmos out of pvc pipe and swimming pool noodles primarily for path type drills. I also have a full length mirror which really helps w/ set-up.

I use Dr. Scholl's foot spray of the club faces to work on centered contact. I also build a flat clear plastic "U" shaped piece that I put behind the ball to make sure I'm not hitting fat. I also use a Swingbyte and of course my cellphone to shoot video.

I had to laugh - I was bored and connected a bunch of stuff together (Tour Striker, Swinggyde) and I felt just like Kevin Costner in Tin Cup!

In the basement I've set up a putting green with a ramp so I can hit into a hole along with a iPod Touch and the iPing app.

That combined with simulator time and hitting at the local well heated outdoor range keeps me sane through these Michigan winters!

Wow that's a lot of gadgets and gizmos!

Surely the U shaped piece to stop you fatting the ball is counter productive? I know you said it's clear but it's still likely to catch your eye and be potentially drawing your eyes away from the ball, plus surely the feeling of the strike tells you whether you've hit it fat or not?!

As much short game practice as possible, weather permitting. Maybe hit 50/100 balls a week with a 6 iron to keep swing ticking over, long game can wait until february/march

Constantly hitting the same club really isn't that good for your swing! You should try and take a range of clubs, even if it's just PW, 8, 6 and 4

Hannah, I will be practicing the long game with weekly trips to the range, more if I have the time, spending time on technique. Any tips on how to make these sessions interesting would be helpful. Apart from that roll on summer...!!

Well... Unfortunately i live in North Eastern Pennsylvania where the weather is down right brutal during the winter months. I will set up a net and turf mat in my garage and hit away to help stay with my golf fix, This will be my second year in a row a group of us will make the trip to Myrtle Beach, SC to break up the winter months.I will hit my driver, but in my eyes my clubs from 150 yards and in are my most important. I will focus on making a consistent swing and not changing my mechanics.

Hannah i would work on (or continue working on) the ladder drill while on the range, Its very helpful getting a feel for your club.I'm sure you know what it is but if you don't.. you pick a starting spot  (roughly 100 yards) and finishing spot (200 yards) and focus on having a feel for your clubs. the first shot should just be inside the marker, with your second shot beating the first shot. Try and see how many balls you can get in between the start/stop locations. Always make sure you the next shot goes further than the shot before. if not start back over .

Usually I work on chipping and putting when I can't play here in Kansas (usually Dec-Feb) but will go to range just to keep swing in shape. We don't have any indoor ranges so everything is weather permitting. I don't look at distance on the range just ball striking and if the ball starts on line.

    Hello TT,

The winter months in El Paso, TX are not that bad we may get osme morning delays for frost but the Golf Game is still on for most of the year. Things I personnaly need to work on is the short game and putting. If I could take away all the short game failures I think I would be conssitenly in the low 70's. I have seen all the videos and trid all the latest trends, "hindge and hold, using a 8-9 iron, playing the ball back in the stance, using a putting stroke with a wedge" its all been done, but still cannot keep the score low and get the ball to the hole from 120-80 yds out. I will continue to work on it but any advice from TT would be great.

    Hi Hannah

I will be starting with indoor coaching sessions using down the line and side camera work. iWorking on drills to ensure my over the top swing does not return with bad habits.

Will continue the indoor drills using my Huxley Rota net in my garden working through the full club range.

Drills to assist me would be getting my hips turning through the ball consistently
