Ball for me

Hi,

I have an 11 handicap. I average about 260-270 off the tee. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good ball for me. I am looking for distance and exceptional spin and feel.

thomas,

i'd say stay in the pro v1 family.  with your length, you could probably squeeze a little more distance out of an x, but for feel and spin, i'd suggest staying with the regular pro v1.  get a sleeve of both and play each ball on every shot and see which one fits your game better.  good luck!

I would recommend going to a pro shop and getting fitted.  If that's not possible, then I would recommend getting a sleeve of ProVix's and a sleeve of the NXT tours and see what feels best out on the course.  Both balls are great choices.

Thomas, you have plenty of length. How's your short game? Might I suggest you find teh ball that you can control best around the greens. One that will allow you to spin it enough to stop it from rolling over the green on pitch shots and feels good on the putter face. Then, get the driver that suits that ball.

Hi,

The Velocity is another good ball. NXT. Pro V1's. I agree with the above. You should either go through a ball fitting with your Titleist rep, or, buy some sleeves and try out each ball until you find the one you like.

I would also recommend to not buy a ball that you can't afford to lose.  Most balls end up in the water or high grass, so buy a ball that if you lose it then it won't ruin your round.

Buy a sleeve of Pro V's and one of 1X's.  Then decide what ones you like.  Can't go wrong with either ball.

I was looking for a ball about 2 years ago with the same characteristics as you.   I took sleeves of ProV, X, NXT and Velocity out on the course late in the day when it was not busy.   I hit various shots with all models...with particular emphasis on 150yd and closer.  Actually did this on 3 evenings.

All are great products.  But see if YOU notice a difference in YOUR game between them.  I came away from my sessions with a winner.  I'm sure you will too.   Oh...and don't be afraid to factor price into the equation.

I have a similar handicap and hit it just a few yards further(about 275) on average. I found the pro v1x was better for my game both off the tee and with wedge spin. It checks better than any ball on half wedge shots for me. I try just about every tour ball released each year, but always end up going back to the pro v family. As suggested, you should always fit yourself by trying different balls on your home course.
Hope this is helpful.

I personally love the way the Pro V1 reacts to the green, I often get out-driven by the golfers I play with, but approach shots that hit the green tend to stay on the green, usually a couple-three feet from where they hit (on most greens).  I also like the way they check up on the short chips ... and they have a nice feel on the putter.

I think the best thing you can do is try the balls you are interested in (on several rounds), and just see which one works best for your game!

I would say play either the prov1 or the prov1x but play with both before you choose and decide which one you like more.
