I received the sleeve of test balls sent in November. I find this to be and excellent ball. It's jumps off the club and has a different but good feel upon impact. Superior distance and stops on the greens. It checks nicely on chip shots and has controllable run out when putting. The only negative would be that the soft cover has a tendency to nick and scuff, similar to the old balata covers. Could this ball replace my Pro V 1's? If it's priced right. Fred

Mine had red numbers. Off the driver they were at least the same length maybe 2 or 3 yards regularly. Where they really shown was in approaches and chips. They seemed to hit and settle much better than I have been use to.

I was impressed with the ball as well. It would be nice for Titleist to let us know what balls we tested. I understand waiting until the release of the new ball. Maybe an email telling us what the balls were the day of the release.

I also received a sleeve and not sure what ball it is but compared to my ProV1 I normally hit I really liked them. Comparing the 2 the distance was comparable but the feel around the green and putting I really enjoyed these test balls.

    Great job

I also received the test balls.  Mine appeared to be a little harder ball than the Pro V.  It played well and jumped off the club and driver.  Rolled well on the green.  OVer all is a quality ball.

  6. Tested red number 1 today. Found the ball to be very hard of face of putter. Struggled to find  feel and length on greens. Off tee both driver and irons were much longer up to one club difference on irons. Again very nice flight. Both balls did not scuff up or lose any colour stayed bright white which I liked. Balls appeared to be similar just found it much harder off putter face

  7. Another round today with red number one again found extra length from off tee and fairways ball still feels hard off putter face but some practise in week with balls resolves some of feel and length issues that I have maybe an insert in putter face may help again ball still not scuffed or discoloured apart from hitting tree one of my favourite thing about ball after two rounds still looks new flight was very good into wind and with winds gusting from side across fairways ball not as soft as black number one  ball is growing on me once again many thanks Titleist for the chance to test these balls for you hope I have been some help with what I have written

I received a sleeve last year, but haven't received any this year.  Anyone know how it's determined who gets the test balls and when?

I received two different sleeves of the test balls three days apart. One sleeve had the Black numbers and the other had Red numbers. Like Earl I felt that the Black ones felt similar to the Velocity but yet it didn't seem to have the distance. The black did scuff easier than the Red ones and didn't seem to have as good a stopping power on a green. I felt that the Red was a better all around ball for me and was like a combination of the NXT -Solo. It had just the right spin off a driver to maintain straight flight with good rollout. When I used a wedge into the green the Red really held well and I could actually spin it back. If I were to purchase one of these my choice would be the Red numbered ball , I played them in 60 degree and 45 degree weather to be sure. Thanks to the R&D for allowing me to take part in this put I never did a email asking me how I liked them as the note had said would take place.

Played another round on Saturday , 1st day of winter and it's 74 degrees. I still found the Red number ball to be the better of the two. It just seems to me that the Black number ball has less yardage and not as workable on shots as the Red ones. I can't actually get any more yardage from these than I do from the NXT but the Red holds a green very well on high  shots or just a soft chip . I really like the idea of getting a chance to play a ball that R&D has put out to see what an average golfer thinks. I keep trying to compare these others that I have played and the Red would be my selected ball over the Black just for the precise play around the green. I need a ball that holds when I'm trying to get close to the pin and doesn't just run on out.

I got a sleeve in mail with black letters and red numbers in Nov There was a note with sleeve saying I would get email asking for feedback - never got the email So I will post here - tested against current NXT tour and Cally Chrome My SS is in 90-49 range - am 6 hdcp Was able to test in NC late November - high 60's temp - 9 holes only The test balls performed very well I was able to hit all 3 on all shots - hit order was random Longer by 5-10 steps on every drive Iron distance same 100 yds in - got one hop and stop 8/9 holes Chipping/Putting - ball was softer than the other two Was impressed - yet to read anything about what ball version was tested either here or at GolfWRX forums It would start the year as my gamer if I knew what it was Titleist - Thank you for this opportunity Bernie

Had a sleeve too. I have been playing DT Solos and I really didn't feel they were much softer. But since then I have been trying NXT Tour S which I am liking. A round in the eighties is a good day for me though so I might not be as in tune as some of you other guys/gals.

Wow what a ball, 1st tee this ball was yards longer, spin was OK, and durability also OK, would buy this ball if the price right.

Received two sleeves of test ball, one with red numbers the other with black. I found the red numbers to be a little hard of the face with less control on putting.

The black numbers were much better with good distance good feel on chips and putts and would buy if I new what it was and availability.

Tests were carried out in cold weather so this may have a different report during the summer.

I also received 2 unmarked sleeves of balls in post - many thanks - although both were black writing and I'm sure were both marked 1 (although have only used from 1 sleeve so far).

Played 2 rounds so far with them and definately a lovely consistent feel on impact and in flight. Hard to judge on stopping power on greens, as its been pretty wet & soft here so the ball seemed to stop easily anyway. However I did love it on the greens and off the putter, very soft & responsive feel.

My only gripe would be that it did scuff quite easily. I used a new ball for each round, and both of these have now some very visible nicks & scuffs. I would expect that I would be looking to replace them after 2~3rounds.

I also received a sleeve of the test balls and loved them. Pretty similar to the NXT S that I normally use.

  20. I also received a sleeve of test balls. Red Numbers. They worked extremely well everywhere except off the tee and on long  approaches. I felt a distance loss of as much as 10%. But close to the green, and on the green, there was a great feel of the club and the putter enjoyed the change too. Excellent and consistent flight patterns and it seemed to me they were less likely to wander on errant strikes.

I also did not get the follow-up email. I registered after an ace earlier this year but changed my email address after that (you don't think that could be the reason do you?). Anyway I have re-registered, same name different email guys at Titleist.
