My hope is to get a polite response for a friend of mine from a Prov1 expert - he insists that if you hit the prov1 on the logo - you will get 5 to 10 yards more distance per shot than hitting the ball anywhere else. I responded repeatedly that I didn't believe such a thing, although I responded that hitting the center of my 909 d-comp does work that way, yet he insisted that this is true, so I told him I would ask the experts and send him the responses I get to such a question. thank you for your responses, Brian

Brian, I am not an expert but have played Pro V's for a long time. I have never noticed this and can not say that there is any merit to that.

If it did, it wouldn't be USGA legal.  There are balls that require being on the tee with the logo exposed to improve directional stability on T-shots - but not legal.  Since you can't adjust the logo from the fairway, how would you know what to expect for distance from the fairway?  ....It wouldn't be a Pro-V if you couldn't expect it to perform exactly the same if you hit the ball correctly.

i have to laugh.  when the first pro v was introduced, hitting it on the seam would create a more penetrating trajectory.  i'm not making this up.

I totally remember that, I even think Phil had mentioned something on TV about the way he lines his ProV1's up :)

This may work if you try and hit the logo on the other side through the ball.

I still set up my driver with the PROV1X logo pointing down target line
