Met with Patrick Hanna, Titleist Golf Ball Fitter on Saturday at our club and after a discussion of my equipment (Titleist) and type of ball we came to a conclusion that I need to make a change.  I was previously playing a Prov1X as my primary ball and a ProV1 as my backup ball for faster greens during tournaments.  I sweep the ball and he recommended that play the ProV1 all the time and stop switching and to develop more consistency with spin which I was lacking.  It appears that it is best to go to the professionals and let them do their thing.  Thanks titleist.

    Chuck,

It was a pleasure meeting and talking with you this past weekend in Charleston, hopefully you will continue to play the Pro V1 based on our conversation.  Please post any comments or findings to TT for other members to view.  Let me know if you have any further questions, and thanks again for the seafood recommendation

Patrick:  Enjoyed our conversation.  I do have some questions but will email you at your address on the business card.  The ball is working well.  Played on some rather faster greens on Monday and the ball held well for me.  Did not hurt my distance, not that I could tell.  Still hitting it long.  Will see how it works with my new AP2S....the order was sent in on Monday.....was fitted on the 17th and are they ever sweet.......with the new clubs and the ball change, expect at least 2 strokes off my handicap within ninety days....right....again thanks for your time and most of all your professionalism......chuck

    Hi Chuck,

I was just the opposite. I play PRO V1 as a rule. I played this week with a friend who is a teaching pro (on a pretty long course with quick greens). I put a good bit of spin on the ball. The drives have a slight fade and tend to stop or have a little roll when they hit the fairway. He handed me a PRO V1x for the back nine. I added about 10 yds to my drives and about 5 yds to my irons. My slight fade on drives became about 2-4 yd fades and the ball still stopped pretty quickly on the greens. For the record, I am older and my swing speed is not fast. So much for the myth about the PRO V1x being for faster swings. It worked great for me.

  6. I was fitted by the mobile fitting team a few months back in the UK....

I too was a avid Pro V1 user and came away with Pro V1X and very happy with them...

Think I recognize this person and I thought you were younger.  Think you will like the ProV1X....I really enjoyed playing with it.....but I need to play what I can score best with....FJC......chuck

Chuck, thanks for thinking I was younger. I posted on the FJC that with winter coming (I am in Eastern Massachusetts) I picked up a dozen DT Solo and will alternate with the ProV1x in a few rounds when it gets cold out (I play all year when possible). Hopefully I am good enough to tell any difference with a "softer" ball. Just a personal experiment to keep me occupied.
