I spent the last 20 years fishing BASS tournaments and the one thing almost the entire BASS industry has in common is a great public advertising program. Fishing industry hats are free or almost free at most events and most BASS angler’s truck boat/rigs have some sort of industry logo affixed. These guys and gals are just local amateur anglers who are proud of their sport, proud of their investment in the products that they use and want to share their enthusiasm with everyone. The one thing fishing and golf have in common is the difficulty in recruiting young people into our sport. The golf industry should be more proactive by using the free advertising medium available to them. I would proudly display a tasteful “Team Titleist” or “Titleist” laser cut vinyl window sticker. I would even pay for it, would you?
