if the greens are real slow or wet from the rain, i have been using more of mid compound ball to make it roll better and

i don't have to hit as hard. when the greens are super fast like ice feeling, i like using a softer ball for better speed control

and they stick where i'm needing it to and won't roll away from where i'm wanting to stay.  i was wondering if anyone else

does something similar or jus sticks too the same ones they always game wit. i'm prob wrong with the method i use, but it

always seems to work the best for me.

    Jason,

If it works for you, that is all that matters.

I play the same ball (Pro V1x) seven or eight months out of the year, but will usually change to a different ball around mid November through early March (depending on the temps).  I go to a softer feeling ball during the winter months so that hitting shots that are not real solid don't feel so jarring.  Last winter I picked up a dozen NXT Tour S balls and they performed pretty well in the cold weather.

Hey Jason Agree with Barry. If it works for you then roll with it (had too :-) ) It can be very wrong if it works and gives you confidence. Clearly you've got some great adaptation skill and have done a great job of matching your gear to what you need. I game ProV1x all season. To Barry's point, colder weather can provide some extra feedback and with the new NXT makeup, I've not played, but might look at that. I've tended to use the harsh feedback as a way to force me into the shot to not 'miss' - especially thin. S.

Interesting Barry, and I may try that.  I have used left over versions of ProV1's and X's in the off season rounds or when you are getting going when the courses are in worse shape.  I don't play a lot of golf in the cold anymore but if I do I will look into the softer versions of Titleist as that negative feedback in the hands can change your swing when you are starting to get hesitant to release the club.

Hi Jason! The TT Guys are right on, if it works for you, stay with it. Generally, I like and play the ProV1 on a regular basis. But if I had to change I go to ProV1x. I trust and rely on their performances. Here's a video that I booked for my self about it: (You may have seen it before, but enjoy anyway- I always do.) http://www.titleist.com/golf-balls/Pro-V1-Pro-V1x.aspx#TotalPerformance

I use a Pro V1x year round, we don't need to worry about temperatures down in Queensland, Australia. Warm and sunny. year round.

I wouldn't recommend switching balls.  It's the only piece of equipment you play for every shot.  That said, if it works for you, enjoy

    Grindelwald,

I always stick to the same ball

If you change them too often, you will never find the right strocke which you need to stick to.
As one can see, also tour players don't change the ball just because of differen conditions

I use the same pro v1 all around, I know how the ball performs in the air for me Tee to Green. If the greens are really slow I may add weight to my putter head using lead tape.

I play the ProV1 no matter what the conditions.  I don't see a difference when its colder.

I play the ProV1x year round. Putting is just one aspect and I believe one can adapt quickly to different green speeds but the change in performance characteristics around the greens can take a significant amount of time to adjust. If you feel this is lowering your scores, stay with it but I would look at your whole game and determine if you're paying a price in some other aspect of your game.

I use the Pro V1 and play "hit and stick" golf as soon as the greens become responsive ... early spring or late fall I will switch to a Velocity or NXT and play "hit and run" golf.  As far as green speed goes, I try to judge how chips and putts play on the practice green before my round, then I either hit the ball harder or softer according to the roll of the green.
