By looking at the website, it looks like the Pro V1 would be flatter, even though it spins more.

I read a comparison review on WRX which showed that the Pro V1x had the flatter trajectory.

I've recently bagged the 716 AP1s, which are fairly high launching compared to what I'm used to. I was thinking switching to the Pro V1 (from the V1x) would help keep the ball down a little more.

    any thoughts?

I find the Pro V1x to have a more piercing flight.  Your new, higher flight sounds like it could be related to the shafts in your new irons.

I agree with the shaft possibility. When upgrading I went from the MB's/ProV to the AP2's/ProV1X because of the high ball flight. A lot of factors involved. I actually liked the CB's ALOT, but hit them extremely high with ridiculous spin. That's just my combination, for example. It's all about where the clubface is at impact with your release tendencies.

From my experience the Pro V1 has a higher trajectory.  Which is why I use ProV1X, it has a way of driving into the wind.  More piercing trajectory.  So for me goes further but still sticks on the green.

I just switched from the 712 AP2 to the 716 CB irons(standard specs). I had been playing the Pro V1x ball and I switched to the Pro V1 for similar reason. I found that I was hitting the new CB irons higher and switching the ball didn't help as much as I wanted. For me I am in the process of getting my lie angles tested. Last time I was tested at 61* for a 5 iron, I was a lot younger then (lie angle adjustment had more to due with toe droop in shaft) I believe I'm probably 60* 5 iron today. I checked the standard 716 cb 5 iron is 62* on website. I struggled with my ball starting left as well as some mishits towards the heel, a sign of too upright, my solid strikes tend to launch high. I believe if I shallow out the swing it should help me with trajectory & spin.
