During the later Spring, Summer & early Fall, I play a Pro V1. In the colder months, I prefer to play a ball with a lower compression. My Driver swing speed is 95mph and my index is a 12. What ball would provide the best performance........NXT Tour, NXT Tour S, Velocity (doubt it) or the DT TruSoft OR stay with the Pro V1. Lots of balls out there and everybody has advice. I'm willing to listen to the experts! Thanks!

I have used the Pro V1 since inception. I have always been a "golf ball snob" since I was a kid. My driver swing speed is 95, also. My index is 9.4. This past summer, I was given a sleeve of Velocitys at an event. Was going to give them away, but decided to give them a try. I love the Velocity. Longer and straighter as advertised. When I mentioned the switch to my club pro, he cautioned about reduced spin on shots 100 yards and less. I found that the longer straighter offset the less spin (shorter shots into the green from the fairway). Worth the tradeoff, and I was able to adjust. Had the most successful season in years (won our A Flight, our Member-Member, and my age group in our Senior Championship). I'm a satisfied Velocity player.
  4. I have been experimenting with NXT Tour S at my club in Florida. Fairways are wide and greens are huge. I like the extra distance I get. Back home in Ohio fairways are narrow and greens are small. I find it much easier to spin and stop the ProV1x. Can you tell me how spins rates compare on the 2016 versions of those balls? Any chance spin rate higher on newer version of NXT Tour S? Your thoughts and any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi James -

The Pro V1x gives you greater control around the greens than NXT Tour S due to our proprietary cast thermoset urethane cover used on Pro V1 and Pro V1x. The new NXT Tour S has a softer core & softer Fusablend cover than the prior generation version. These changes deliver longer distance with the driver and other long clubs, while providing softer feel. Most people will find spin & control into the green of the new NXT Tour S to be similar to the prior generation.

    Thanks for the question!

  6. I have been using the Titleist ProV1 for years, and just recently changed to the ProV1x last year because I just turned 61, and I am starting to loose yards. How does the NXT Tour, or Tour S compare to the Pro V line for someone that is getting a little older?

    Hi Jim -
The DT TruSoft has a new, larger core that is significantly softer than the DT SoLo. The reformulated softer ionomer cover of the DT TruSoft will give you even softer feel and good spin on short game shots. Overall, the DT TruSoft will have lower spin and lower flight than DT SoLo off the driver, which combines for longer distance.

    Thanks for the question!

How much difference is there in performance numbers (spin, etc...) between the Pro V1x and NXT Tour (or Pro V1 and NXT Tour S) when compared side by side using the various hitting machines (iron byron & spider) hitting multiple types of shots. I think it would be interesting to see how much, if any, difference there is between ball models.

Why is the feel so significantly different between the NXT Tour and the "S"?
I like playing with the tour but the "S" feels like mush off irons and especially the putter. Thanks!

    Hi David -

We spend a lot of time researching and talking with golfers about how they experience feel. Our research has shown that golfers tend to perceive solid core constructions like NXT Tour S to be softer than multi-layer constructions like NXT Tour, which has a dual core. NXT Tour S also has a softer compression and softer cover than NXT Tour. Building NXT Tour and NXT Tour S with different constructions allows us to deliver excellent total performance in both golf balls, while providing two significantly different feel options.

    Great question,

  12. I used to play the Pro V1x for years, until last year when I started using the Chrome Soft. I gained distance, yet had the same spin around the greens and liked the softer feel. Do any of the new Titleist golf balls compare? I'm a 10 handicap and swing speed on driver is 98 - 105, if it makes a difference. Thank you.

Why aren't we Titleist enthusiasts allowed to buy a dozen balls consisting of a sleeve of each of the new balls to test against one another instead of having to buy either a dozen of each or, at the very least, expensive sleeves that the retailer up-charges because he's breaking up the dozen. Fairly simple question.

What's the difference between the NXT Tour S and the Trusoft since both are 2 piece balls and both seem to have roughly the same cover?

    Hi Ray -

At a high level, these golf balls may appear to be similar, but when you look at the actual construction elements of the two golf balls, they are very different and this impacts golf ball performance. The core of NXT Tour S is larger and firmer than DT TruSoft. NXT Tour S has a proprietary cover developed by Titleist called Fusablend. DT TruSoft has Titleist’s softest ionomer cover. These differences provide real short game spin implications – with NXT Tour S having more short game spin and control than DT TruSoft. While both golf balls are manufactured with excellent quality and consistency, NXT Tour S will give you a scoring advantage with more stopping power on short game shots.

    Thanks for the question,

  16. You sent me a sleeve of balls to try this past Fall. I really liked the balls, can you tell me what you sent me to test. They were just labeled TEST on them.

I recently tested two Titlest balls. One sleeve had a triangle on the balls, and the other a square. I love the balls with the square. I was wondering what the retail ball is they represent.

What was the inspiration behind NXT and who coined it? Does it become more challenging to come up with new and innovative products?

    Hi Nancy -
We introduced the NXT microbrand in 2001, with the NXT Tour and NXT Distance. The name “NXT” was actually coined by our CEO, Wally Uihlein. With a staff of almost 80 engineers, scientists and technicians dedicated to research and development working hard every day for “new & innovative”, we strive to deliver the best. In general, almost 99% of scientists’ experiments don’t achieve "new & innovative". Fortunately, combining our R&D Team's expertise with golfers throughout the Pyramid of Influence (Professional golfers, teachers, Team Titleist members), we consistently deliver the 1%. Only these "new & innovative" concepts earn the Titleist script.

I've been playing the NXT Tour S and am happy to see new versions of this one as well as the other newer entries in Titleist's lesser expensive ball offerings.
My question is: which of these four brands mentioned above actually hold their line better and have less side-spin offer the driver.
    Thanks

    Hi Raymond -
At launch, all golf balls have back spin. How the golfer delivers the golf club to the ball determines the ball’s axis of rotation and how much the ball will or will not curve. All of our golf balls are long and the difference in driver spin between the balls is not game changing. We see with our robot testing less than 300 rpm spin variance off of drivers between NXT Tour, NXT Tour S, Velocity and DT TruSoft. There’s more difference in spin generated from a golfer’s swing to swing variations than there is between these balls.

Separately, the new NXT Tour, NXT Tour S, Velocity and DT TruSoft all “hold their line” and that’s a result of our use of a dimple placement technique called spherical tiling that creates a uniform and consistent dimple pattern.

    Good question,

  22. I recently completed the survey after trying the "square & "triangle" balls. Will we ever be told what balls they actually were or the results of the survey ?
PS. Yesterday I shot 1 over with the "triangle"....my best round in 10 years !!!!

I play the Trusoft but have tried the NXT Tour S, but don't see much difference between the two balls. My question is since they are both 2pc balls with similar covers, what's the difference between them?
  24. I played the test ball and participated in a survey of the titleist test ball and really liked it. Can you tell me which of titleist balls it was?

What is the difference in compression on Titleist balls, I noticed that some other ball companies put there compression ratio on the box. I would like to know what compression ball I'm hitting. I have been playing the Prov1 and the DT Solo. Thanks.

With the new Trusoft being the softest ball in your lineup , how durable will it be for longevity . I tend not to loose balls.

I am 71 yrs. old and have a swing speed of 71 mph. Slow huh? I shoot in the 90's and do not hit the ball far, but am accurate. Which ball do you recommend? Why?
