  1. Hey Team! I'm itching to go out a play a round or 3 but since it's 20 degrees here and snowing I can't find a course that's open.... I've been thinking about sowing some time at a simulator either flight tracking or virtual play. Have any of you used these as training tools? And if so have you seen a difference when you use different kinds of balls e.g. ProV series vs NXT series. Thanks for the posts! They've been very helpful. Counting down the days until I can see the flagstick in the distance and not a bed sheet right in front of me.

I went today and tried a few different balls, watching distance, spin and direction. ProV1X for me! Sorry to the other brands
  3. Hey Ben, I'm fortunate enough to have a simulator down the road from me that I use 1-2 times per week and also a heated range outside as I like to see my ball in actual flight. I just use the range part on the simulator to track my yardages, launch and spin numbers, very accurate they are. I've only used the ball I play, ProV1x but from others I hear there is a difference in numbers in which ball they play. Good Luck!!
  4. Hi guys, thanks for the notes! I'm planning on going to a heated driving range as soon as we get to the upper 20s here. Below that and it seems like my hands are breaking. At the simulator I will try the two different balls and see how it works with the numbers. I just want the ground to be green again instead of glossy white. Hoping for an early spring! And if not an escape south for a few days! Thanks again for your posts!

I've been to the simulators, both practicing and "playing" that far off course. More like bowling than golf (hit your shot, go back and have some nachos and sip of beer while you wait your turn again), but can be fun with a group of buddies, and better than nothing. Be careful with the outdoor ranges that have heated bays. I had a buddy who lost his favorite driver, the face cracking (and more and more drivers are thinning out the faces). Most places leave the balls outside in the cold, and since they're usually a two piece durable "top rock" type ball, you're almost hitting stones out of that heated bay.

Great tip on using caution due to the temp change in heated ranges. Watched a grown man practically cry when he split his TM R11 a couple years back in exactly that scenario. Broke my heart but drove the point home.
  7. Tom, Thanks for the heads up on the the cold condition hitting. I was wondering if it would do damage so I held back on the clubs that I cared about and brought some older ones with me when I went. Good thing I did! Thanks again!

I play in a golf league on simulators with the wife during winter.
I also have a Skytrak with Net return in my house to practice and work out the itch.

When can have fun with these but I'll always wait on course testing to finish my decision. I have a friend with a flightscope and another with trackman so outside numbers can be crunched when playing outside.
