Question for a Titleist rep in here.  Is there anyway to ensure that when I custom order a new driver that i'm getting the exact loft that i've specified?  As with all other OEMs i'm sure you have "acceptable" tolerances of +/- 1 degree or maybe even 2 degrees, which means the 8.5* driver I ordered could really be a 9.5 or 10.5* driver in terms of loft?  I know another manufacturer allows you to order a digitally measured club if you pay extra, i know Titleist doesn't but if I get one and get it measured somewhere and the loft is unacceptable, will you honor an exchange and will I have to keep ordering and returning until the 8.5* I order is in fact an 8.5* driver?

    Hello Eric,

We would encourage you to go to a fitter and let ball flight, launch angle and spin determine your correct loft.  Our tolerance on lofts is .5° at a face angle of 0.  They are the tightest tolerances in the industry.  We can request 100% QA on the head loft, but .5° is within our tolerance.

We would not accept an outside measurement of loft or lie as return criteria given the fact that there can be measurement error as well as instrument gauge error.

    Hi Cathi,

Sent you an email, finally completed a fitting this past weekend and the order should have been sent in by now.  Just wanted to follow up on this old thread and ask if you could request the 100% QA on the head loft as you mentioned so that at the very least the driver head will be within tolerance and not way outside it.  Much appreciated, thanks.

Hi Eric,  The request for QA inspection has to be done through the account.  I have spoken to Kevin and he is aware of your request so it has been added.

    Thanks Cathi,

One final question, in the absence of any specific SW requirement on the order, will your custom club dept. bring the SW for the order that includes a 44.5" shaft (instead of stock 45") as close to stock SW (D3-D4) as possible or does that have to be specified on the order?  I asked Kevin this and he said your custom club dept would automatically add weight to the head to bring it to stock SW and no specific instructions would be required.  Just wanted to double check.  Thanks.

D3 has been specified on your club order.

Where do we send drivers to get the loft checked by Titleist? I bought a 910D2 8.5 and want to make sure my loft is correct!

  8. I just purchased the 917 d3 with a stamped loft of 8.5 degrees but the loft is higher. I did a comparison with my old swoosh vapor fly and you can see a considerable amount more of the face when im standing at address with the titleist. The measurement is way off. Just wondering if their is a way to get a custom head with the actual clubhead loft being 8 degree's? I am a high level amateur player and need the loft to be exact.

Hi Robbie, As you can see from the original thread, our tolerance for loft is the tightest in the industry. Please take your driver to your local pro shop and have them set up a Warranty inspection. The club will be measured accurately and if it is out of specs, the Warranty department will replace it.
