I bought a Vokey SM4 52* wedge with Oil Can finish. I honestly didn't realize that the finish wears off and causes it to rust. I don't aesthetically like the way it looks when rusted, so I always clean them and oil them up. What good does rust do for the wedge? I hear it's for spin, then I hear the rust won't make the ball spin at all. I love the wedge, but I don't care for the constant rusting. If I play on a wet day, it rusts within an hour. I understand this is what's supposed to happen, but I want to know why so many people love a rusted wedge?

It is a personal preference, people like the rust on wedges because it does not glare in the sun like chrome does. And no rust does not help the ball spin more. If you want to get rid of the rust, just let the wedge soak in Coca-Cola and it should take it off. hope this helps

I believe soaking the club in Coke will remove all the Gun Metal finish causing your club to rust even more....correct me if I'm wrong???

No matter what you do the rust will come back. those oil can wedges are meant to rust, as a matter of fact they mainly just put the finish on the wedges so they won't rust in the store and for non-glare purposes. So if you want a wedge that won't rust than go with a plated wedge like chrome. just my 2 cents.
