I bought a set of AP1s in December and I've noticed that the paint in the numbers in my 8 iron is completely gone now and my P wedge is mostly gone.  (I've been hitting a lot of balls lately at the range with them.)

I'm not hard on my clubs, I clean them regularly.  In my 20+ years of playing golf, I've never had the numbers lose their paint before, so I know it's not me.  This is my first time owning Titleist clubs though.  Is this normal for Titleist club owners?  It's more of an annoyance than a problem, really.

I'm just curious if this is something I can expect to happen to all my irons over time.  Again, not really a problem, just kind of annoying for such new clubs.  It's not going to stop me from enjoying them.

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.

I had the same problems with my 735's.  The 7-P all lost some or all the paint from the numbers.  I used a fine tipped black Elmers Painters Pen to dress them up before a tournament, but it would come off shortly, as well.  I think it's common, but it bothered me also.

Keith; I haven't had any paint problem with my AP1's, and I got mine about the same time as you. Cathi with Titleist usually replys to most posts like your, but she is out of her office until the 4th (I think) Maybe you could add something to this post tomorrow so she will see it, and respond. I do agree with you though. The paint loss won't hurt the club's performance, but I'd be upset too if the paint was coming off mine in such a short time. I would think that the paint inside the numbers of the clubs should be there forever.

I'm thinking of getting new Titleist irons this year.  That seems like way too short of time for the paint to come off.  Ive used my png irons for 8 yrs and all of my paint is still on the clubs.  Would like to hear from others if this is normal for Titleist irons.  Good Luck

I'm sure if you contact Titliest they will take care of you. I'm nowhere near a golf club expert but that definitely does not seem normal to me after less than a year of use!

Thanks guys for your responses.  From the sounds of things, seems like this is a little more common than I thought. The strange thing to me is that I've played Vokey wedges for years, long before I switched irons over to Titleist and this was never a problem.

The dilemma then is do I contact Titleist and potentially send my clubs in?  Or do I just live with it?

I'll probably just live with it.  Because when I think about it, I'm being a little vain about the clubs and I really don't want to part with my clubs for any length of time.  I just want to play golf, as we all do.

Hope all of you hit more fairways and greens this season.

I love my AP1's and haven't had any issues with paintfil coming off the numbers.  I'm now wondering if I should expect it to happen soon.  Hopefully its just one or two clubs in your bag with that issue.  I would probably just live with it.  Like you, I don't think I could send in my clubs for any length of time.

Some of mine were coming off so i stripped the paint and did my own. It's very easy to do and with a little step by step guide, you can change them to any color you want. Check this guide out on a HOW TO DIY. http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/430009-paint-fill-101/

Hi Keith,  I'm sorry to hear about the numbers on your clubs.  Please have your golf shop contact our Warranty department.  Have the shop request a 2 day call tag and a rush.  They should be able to get it back and forth in about a week.

I have the same problem with my MB's, its common over time for Titleist clubs. If it really annoys you then go grab some black nail polish, coat the whole number, then put some acetone on a cotton ball and wipe lightly around the number. Works like a charm, haha.
