My wedge play right now consists of a PW (ZB standard), 54.11, 60.07, and 64.07.  Looking to reduce from 4 to 3 (in order to add a hybrid).  Considering going with a 52 or 54 with a moderate bounce, and a 58 or 60 with a higher bounce.

I can hit the 64 reasonably well, but not for any distance - it goes right up and comes right back down.  Very useful tight around the greens, but lousy from outside 40 yards.

For specs, my driver speed is 107-109, and driver ball speed is 155-159. My PW at full is 110 yards, the 54 is 95 yards, 60 is about 70 yards, and the 64 is 40 yards tops.

I know that I should probably go get fit, but am also not looking to spend too much money on a fitting.

    Appreciate the suggestions!

I would just toss the 64. It doesn't seem to give you anything that you would be lacking with the 60.

The 64 could be classified as one of those "nice to have" clubs (ditto with a gap wedge).   Some courses I don't really need it because the greens are large or soft.   Sometimes it comes in handy on those with small, hard greens.  Either way, I don't have to take it out because of the way I have my bag set up.  I just added a 31* hybrid I constructed today so I still have room for one more club.

What degree is your PW?  Seems like you might have a big gap there til the 54.

    My AP1 is 45* and I've got 50, 55 and 60 in the bag...

Check to see if there is a Fitting Day sometime at a local course to try some out and even have the rep fit you.

I have the exact same setup - AP1 PW (46), SM4 54-11 and 60-10 (both bent 1* strong), and 64-07.  It is true that I  rarely use the 64 and max distance is 50 yards on a full swing.     My distance on the 54 is 85 yd, the 60 is 65 yd and 64 is 50 yd.    I could probably drop the 64 (I played without one for almost 2 years after having it in my bag for 5) but it is nice to have and I play with 12 clubs.

I carry a driver, 19F, 9 wood, 27H, AP1 7-PW, 3 Vokeys (including the 64).   My driver is 13* so I don't carry a 3 wood.  I don't need a 6 iron since I have 7-PW spread 31-36-41-46.    I do have a gap of 15 yards between the 27H and the 7 iron but I am adept at choking down for the in between shot.    I also do a stinger shot with the driver for holes that require a 3 wood off the tee.

Another thing to consider is dropping the 3 wood and 5 wood (or 19H) and going to a 17F.

I assume a ZB 9 iron is ~43* and the PW is 47*.    You can take a 60-10 and bend it to 61 (that would be a high bounce lob/sand wedge).  Then keep the 54-11 at stock loft.   This give 7* between wedges.

Can't help much with what wedge to get, but most pro shops will put the price of a fitting towards the price of the club if you buy it from them.

At  times  I  switch  from 4 to 3 wedges too. I don't get enough distance on my long irons  to hit enough greens, so  now carry a 3 and 4 hybrid and actually go with a 50-12 bent to a 49,: 54-14 and 58-8.    Much easier to hit a 58 just open it up and swing away.

My GW goes 105-110 yds, SW 85-95 ,  LW 65-75. depending on wind and weather. . Definately  leave the 64 in the garage. A 4 wood might be helpful if you can't live with out 4 wedges.  On long courses I actually leave the PW in the trunk and add another wood  My swing speed is at 95-100 and ball speed 140. 10 handicap  I would check your distances. particular PW. , Hybrids are so much straighter flight than the long irons.   Good Luck..

If you think about it for a minute, a 50-12 bent to 49 is practically a PW anyway.  This is given an Eye 2+ PW had a loft of 48.5*  I used a 50-08 as a PW when I had Eye 2s.

For most out there, a 4 wood would be better because it is easier to launch off the fairway vs a 3 wood.  The ball has to really be sitting well to hit a 15 fairway off the deck.

Agree with eboos. Drop the 64. They are both lob wedges. The 60, in my opinion, is even more durable than a 64. My 60 is one of the best clubs in my bag. I use it for full shots from 100-75 yards, pitch with it and greenside chip with it. It's a deadly club.

If you are a digger, you want a higher lofted wedge with a medium (8* or so) bounce, a mid lofted wedge with high bounce and a lob wedge with high bounce. Sliders use all low bounce wedges most of the time.

My 60-10 is VERY DEADLY.    I hit it 65-70 yards on a full swing but, for me, it is less risky to hit a slightly choked pitch shot with the PW.   It has been my almost exclusive greenside bunker club for a year now (I've worn some of the chrome off the sole so I got some rust spots now- LOL!).  I've saved quite a few pars with it and often put it within a foot or two of the pin.   Also have had a couple hole-out birdies with it.

My 64 gets somewhere in the vicinity of 50 yards on a full shot and about 30 on a full swing pitch.  I just about never use it on the par 72 courses because the greens are large enough (unless I over hit the green).  It is one of those clubs where the only real effective shot is a full swing or full pitch - better off with a 54 or 60 for chipping.   In San Diego, some of muni executive courses have very hard and small greens and a 64 comes in handy for things like pitching off a mound to a  downhill pin; they also often place the pin about 10-20 feet from the front of the green.  Some of the courses have small deep bunkers and they often put the pin about 10ft from the edge of the green.

I'm also one of those that considers a gap wedge "nice to have" but not really necessary.   I've set up my 54-11 (bent to 53) so I have a 20 yard gap between it and the PW and also a 15 yard gap to the 60 (bent to 59).  This is pretty close to a return to my 2009-2011 setup - PW (47) - SW (55) - LW (60) - XW (64).  I get more use out of both the PW and SW this way.

Most people could do without a 64 wedge, given that it is not exactly the easiest wedge to hit.  I'm going to tend to agree with the majority and suggest to drop it.
