So we just got final word that the new Scotty Cameron Futura X is going to start shipping Aug. 1st.
We've chatted with a few of our guys out on tour recently who putt this putter into play, and the feedback has been great.
I've also rolled a couple of putts with some of the prototypes and I was really liking everything from the stability of the putter through the stroke to the finish, feel and sound.
As a mallet player, I'm really excited to add this one to the quiver and we'll see if it bumps the current gamer (my trusty Kombi-S) out of the rotation...
What do you all think? Who else is excited for this release?
Who's excited as I am about this putter coming to retail? I am going to make this purchase on the day it comes out!
This is a press releaseMaster Craftsman Scotty Cameron’s commitment to the creative process and collaborating with the best players in the world helped lay the groundwork for the new Scotty Cameron by Titleist Futura X putter. Futura X is a high MOI, modern mallet design with advanced perimeter weighting that provides exceptional stability and forgiveness with solid feel. The new Futura X, available worldwide beginning Aug. 1, is the direct result of Cameron’s extensive work with Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott, who used a prototype version of the putter in winning the 2013 Masters Tournament. Scott, who has been using Cameron putters for more than a decade, calls Futura X “the most stable putter I have ever played.” Precision milled from high grade 6061 aluminum, the unique Futura X design combines a rear balance bar with deep heel-toe weights plus perimeter weighting under the face. The resulting deep CG provides stability throughout the stroke, while the perimeter weighting adds forgiveness and solid feel. The result is unmatched stability and a great roll. “I like to describe Futura X as a lethargic putter, for those golfers that need a slow, steady stroke that doesn’t jump around a lot,” said Cameron, whose putters have been the No. 1 choice of players on the PGA Tour since 1997 and counting. “It’s the perfect design for Adam, and will give confidence to all golfers that want stability during the stroke and less hand manipulation.” Futura X features four stainless heel-toe weights, two 20-gram weights on the rear balance bar and two adjustable sole weights (configured depending on the length) in the front corners of the putter under the face. The overall headweight of Futura X is 20 grams heavier than a standard Cameron Select putter, resulting in a swingweight of E8. However, since much of the weight is located behind the axis of the shaft and not directly under the golfer’s hands, the Futura X feels stable but not heavy during the stroke. “Futura X is what I call a ‘force balanced’ design,” Cameron said. “While the putter has a near-face balanced shaft configuration that would normally produce a slight toe hang, there’s so much weight off the back of the putter that it forces the face to hang flat. The rear balance bar allows us to add considerable weight a fairly long distance away from the shaft axis, which is really what drives the high MOI.” Said Scott: “The new Futura X is the most stable putter I have ever played. I worked with Scotty and his team at the Studio for many hours at the end of last year and we worked hard to get it right. Even when I began to play it on Tour at the beginning of 2013, we were still tweaking the original design right up until I won with it at the Masters. It was definitely a long process and I provided considerable feedback based on my performance with it under the gun. “For me, the key to the performance of the putter is the perfect combination of perimeter weighting, high MOI and solid feel. I have more confidence in my stroke with this putter because of its design. Scotty determined the best positions for both the fixed and adjustable weights so the head would remain stable throughout the stroke. I have never had more confidence in a putter or my stroke than I do right now with the new Futura X.” Futura X is offered in standard lengths of 33, 34 and 35 inches, with Futura Mid and Long putters available through custom order only. A double-bend, stepless steel shaft with one shaft of offset provides a square, technical visual at address. The putter has a Frozen Titanium finish that helps reduce glare, two black sightlines and red cherry-dot weights in the sole and balance bar. The mid-milled face texture draws a crisp sound from the aluminum face and body. PRICE AND AVAILABILITY Futura X has an MSRP of $375. Standard length models (33, 34 and 35 inches) are available worldwide through Titleist authorized golf shops beginning Aug. 1, 2013. Hi Mike, I can't wait for the release, I am a mallet type player and since I have the kombi, then went to the kombi s, and then to the Golo, (currently in the custom shop) I will be looking forward to add this putter to my collection. Paul A.
Very excited! Was hoping they would be released by the time I can get my 714's.
Thanks for the heads up on this! I've played a Kombi in the past and currently use a Golo so I am super excited about the new Futura X! Placed my order today for it.
Very exciting news. I love my GoLo 5 and would like to roll a few with one of these.
I want one!
Looks like another good looking putter from Scotty Cameron. I too am a mallet player and look forward to giving this a run once it hits the market. I have experimented with putting a little more weight on the putter head for added stability so it will be interesting to roll a few putts with this putter to see how it feels.
What's not to like - it even comes LH.
Take a look at this video featuring Titleist Brand Ambassador Jason Dufner and Scotty Cameron Tour Rep Larry Silveira sharing their early impressions of the Futura X on tour.
I'm in love with my GOLO S so it'll be tough to pry it out of my hands...but I'll certainly give it a whirl and try to convince myself how much I need it!
I'll stick to my GoLo or 009. However, I do believe that Adam won the Master's with this putter?
Not sure I want to roll this putter. I might have to get one if I do :)
I'm really satisfied with my GoLo N7 that I'm gaming right now.
Closer inspection - the only minimum toe flow LH putter. I am almost ambidextrous putting so the Golo-S would be the model I would look at if it was available as LH. Within 8 feet I can go from either side. I get a better line LH for distances over. Besides AFC and regional, would most shops that carry a full line of samples carry the RH sample, as well, in the first week of August?
I am very excited about this model release...should be a nice compliment to the stable of other great mallet putters recently such as Futura, Kombi, Golo etc... I like the idea also that this putter is not rounded in overall shape but more like a square conceptually...not sure how it will look to my eyes at address but will be fun regardless to try out! I have also been made aware of for those that follow this topic closely that their will be some major differences between the CT Model (Tour Verson $2,500+) and the OTR (Standard Retail $300+) so if your wallet can afford the CT version and you are very particular like many golfers about your putter it may be worth considering ... In my case, I will be happy with the OTR model!
I will be with Scotty the following week in August so should be interesting to see if he brings along any toys for us to play with and maybe compare the two models in person! LOL
