I'm looking to get three new wedges but i'm having a hard time trying to figure out what lofts will fit my game the best. Right now i play 52 56 58 but i think i'm leaning towards 50 54 58 but i'm not sure. Any Suggestions?

You should find a fitter in your area. Wedge fitting is as, if not more important than a driver or shaft fitting. There is a very well defined method to determine your wedge lofts and gaps. You also want to discuss the appropriate bounce for the conditions that you commonly play in.

Thank you! Yeah when i got my AP2's last year i got them fitted so i might go back to that same guy he seemed to be knowledgeable and it really helped out my game a lot.

I personally prefer 3 distinct wedges, therefore I use a 48, 54, 60 loft combination.  Many people use a 4 degree wedge gap and cary 4 wedges (48, 52, 56, and 60) which is totally fine, I find that hitting some sort of a knock down shot is more effective most of the time than trying to make a full swing with a wedge.  For example, I can hit my 54 degree wedge 115 yards if I make a full swing, but I get better results using my pitching wedge (48) and take a little off.  These types of shots produce a lower trajectory with more predictable spin, and also less affected by any wind.  The knock down shots required some practice on my part, but my wedge game really improved because of it.  I also find that having larger wedge gaps makes decision making a little more simple as to which wedge to go with on a given shot.

Hope this is helpful and happy wedging!

I agree with Blair.  AP1 PW (46), SM4 54-11 and 60-10 (both bent 1* strong) and 64-07.  Rarely use the 64.   I played 50 and 54 before and sometimes it got confusing on which to use.

Hey Cory, my current wedge set up is pw(45°), 50-08, 54-11 bent to 55-12, and 60-07 all in the SM4's and they are the perfect set up for me. But I would recommend you go get a wedge fitting so that you get the right wedge set composition for you. Hope this helps!

I had my PW measured at 45 degrees, then did 5 degree intervals for Gap (50) Sand (55) and Lob (60).  They were originally 52/56/60, but I had them adjusted to give an even distribution.  It's taken a few rounds to get used to the extra distance in gap wedge, but I now have clubs for 115/100/85/70 yards respectively. Instead of the uneven spread before (115/95/80/70).

i play pw, 52-08 & 62-07 but this winter i am going to go for 52, 56 & 62 and take the 3 iron out of the bag. I should probably get fitted too. Wonder how much of a difference it would make?

Big diff.   I have been playing my 54 1/2* upright and my 60 and 64 1* upright.   9 and PW are standard lie.

Also consider bending the 56 to 57 to even the gaps.

I was in the same boat and got fitted for a set of AP2s and like to carry 4 wedges. I have stock lofts on my irons, so I got the 52-56-60 oil can Vokey SM4 wedges and had those lofts tweaked to keep a consistent gap from my irons.

    52* - tweaked to 51*

    56* - tweaked to 55*

    60* - tweaked to 59*.

Again like everyone said, match sure you go to a fitter and ask them which set up is best for you, number of wedges and lofts to help with any gaps.

Let us know what you end up getting and how they work out for you.

    Sam
