Question regarding shaft weight's effect on swing weight

    Was thinking about some new AP2s with Project X PXi 5.5 shafts.  Noticed the weight is about 108g compared to stock dynamic gold S300 coming in at about 130g.  How will this affect the standard listed D2 swing weight of the AP2s?  Can a certain swing weight be requested via custom orders?  If so, where is weight altered in the club head to arrive at the desired swing weight (given there does not appear to be any custom tuning ports like other manufacturers)?

    Steve,

    Using the PXi 5.5 shafts, the swing weight will come out to D1.  You may request D2 and we can use a slightly heavier head to achieve that swing weight.

    Thanks so much for the answer Cameron.  I'm wondering how you get a heavier head?  Do you place weights somewhere in the head or just look for heads that came out a bit heavier from the production line?  Thanks again.

    Steve,

    The head itself is slightly heavier in weight by a couple grams.

    And that's just a function of standard weight variations from the construction process?

    what effect will those 2 points in swingweight have on ball flight and overall performance?  I too have the Project X PXi 5.5 but I did not ask for the extra weighted heads to move the swingweight.  My old clubs were D2  but the only visible difference I have noticed is just a slightly higher ball flight and higher initial launch.

    Swing weight is something that will effect feel.  It won't have any direct influence on ball flight.

    Great thanks for the clarification.  They do feel a little lighter now that I think about it.  But I thought it was mainly because of the lighter shaft weight
