Compared to other companies, why does it seem like Titleist charges more for their irons than others?  I know they are great products, but why so much?

Jonathan, As a golf professional my opinion is that Titleist takes the time to make great changes and improvements to their offerings. This research and development takes time and costs money. In comparison to some of the other brands Titleist is not as expensive as some and more expensive than others but does not seem to be way off base with prices. I think that one of the best things about the changes are that you know those clubs will be in the line for two years, unlike other companies to remain nameless that release a new product it seems every month.

Hmm you get what you pay for??

FYI, my local Walamrt sells golf clubs, if you are interested in cheaper clubs.....just saying!

  4. I do not believe this is true! Other companies seem to be worse...also, on a side note how many premium iron oem's replace their product with a "new"one every year or so!

Titleist has more shaft and grip options at no extra charge than any other company that I've seen so far, not to mention the accuracy of their loft and lie. My previous driver was a Cally Razr Black non-adjustable 10.5 (or so I thought). I had it checked on a loft and lie machine at the PGA Learning Center and it measured out at 9 degrees. My 913 D2 12degree measures out at exactly that. 12 degrees.

Full agreement.  When you compare the price against other vendors for their custom order products, Titleist is in the same general price range.  There are both sets that are above and below the Titleist price  When you want to pay more than $200 less, your choices are the graphite or the steel shaft, and the entire 4-GW or 3-PW set. They may even have a R or S option for the shafts. The dealer will do a lie adjustment ...maybe.  Titleist doesn't focus on marketing so they don't replace their product lines once or twice a year to keep the buzz up (remember white drivers?) so they don't end up flooding the market with last year's products at a major discount to clear the inventory they loaded on the dealers.  Titleist offers custom products at a fair, albeit not low, price.

As Titleist has moved to more standard vendor shafts, they have increase the value in comparison to the other vendors that primarily have their in-house branded shafts as the only standard offerings.

Im going to relate this to something i have much experience in, buying guitars.

I can pick up and play a high end Taylor, then pick up and play a high end Martin. While they both sound almost equally amazing, and  the construction on both is breath taking, the Taylor is around $1000 to $1500 more expensive.

Why is it so much more expensive, you ask? The world may never know.

So the answer is this. nobody really knows exactly

    Jonathan,

I would disagree whole heartly with you.  Titleist clubs are not that much more expensive, in fact you can find many of sets that are more expensive.  I would say that you are putting an investment into your game when you pick up a set of Titleist clubs.  There is a huge R&D budget to ensure that players who choose Titleist will get a club that will perform as expected and the inovative changes from each new set is second to none.

Titleist is on a 2 year cycle with metal woods and irons, opposed to other brands who in my opinion will make a new club for the sake of saying they have a new club.  People who choose Titleist can stick with a set of clubs for years and not loose out on any technological upgrades.

Stay the pace and stick with the best in the game.  Titleist is the right club for everyplayer.

    Just my $.02......
