When you get fitted for a set of irons should you also play the same length wedges? My irons are 1 inch long but I never thought about my 60,52,54 they are all standard length. March 14th I will be ordering the sm5's and wondering if I should get them longer.

    Thanks

See a fitter to see if need you to really be an inch over. If so, you probably need to be a couple degrees upright. Also, your swing weights are going to be approx. 4 points over with that length, putting your 54 and 60 wedges at D9 with std grip. See a fitter!

Make sure when getting fitted, the fitter knows what they are doing. Some years back I bought a set of "custom" clubs from a local club maker/fitter. They were 1" longer and graphite. I struggled with these for two years. Then when I was out of state I tried a rental set and played a lot better. When I got home , I took my clubs to a local Golf Galaxy. My swing weight was e-10 and the clubs were too long. Need less to say, I replaced my clubs and now enjoy golfing much more.

That's true.... Vokey wedges would have ridiculously heavy swingweights if 1" longer than standard (approx E1).  Easier to bend the lie angles.

I know what E1 swingweight feels like, because I picked up a hybrid that was 1.5" longer than standard - it was so cheap but ended up cutting the extension completely.  It felt like hitting an 11 wood at first - LOL!
