I am looking to replace my current Vokey wedges and have a question on the grind for my 54. My first Vokey 54 was an original SM I believe from 1997 and stamped SM54.10. What current grind would be closest to this? My next Vokey wedge was from the '08-10 line and is 54.11? Which grind would this be closest to? Of the two wedges, I liked the '97 better. I have a pictures of both, but am not sure how to post them. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for your question.

With regards to the first wedge you mentioned, it is tough to determine the grind because I am not sure what model it may have been. As for your current 54.11, if it was the '08-10 line, it was likely the F grind.  If this is the case, the 54.14 would be a similar grind, whereas the 54.10 M or S grind would be similar bounces.

I hope this answer was helpful.  Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Take care,

    Bubba

Met with Bobby A, the sales representative, who also lives in Mt Pleasant.  Said that he had met Bubba K here sometime in the past.  Told him Bubba sent his regards from TT.  Tried out the new SM5s after listening to all the meanings of all the letters on the grinds and hitting a couple of styples on the driving range.  My new 56.10 will be here in about 10 days.  Chrome.  Actually forgot if I got the S or the K grind, but I hit it pure and looking forward to putting it in play.   I hit it on target everytime and effortlessly....same shafts as in my SM4s but am hitting this one higher and do not have a problem with it.......He said Mr Vokey is big on bounce.  Tried the M bounce as well but not with the same consistency and in the sweet spot everytime.....  I ordered a longer shaft from the factory +1 inch......said the new grinds have 400 rpms of spin more that the SM4s.....really nice club.....great experience with TT today....chuck

    Hi Chuck,

I have worked with Bob a couple times in the past. Great guy and great representative of the Titleist brand.

He is absolutely correct in the Bob Vokey is a big proponent of bounce, as long as the player needs it.  Bounce in many ways equals forgiveness. The new TX3 grooves also add quite a bit of bite over the previous SM versions.

    Enjoy the new sticks.

    Bubba,

Chuck's experience in Mt.Pleasant sounds great.  Any possibility that something like this will be held in the Upstate of South Carolina?  Thanks.
