Im in the market for a new driver.  I played the 913 D2 driver last weekend and loved it, but what is the difference between the D2 and D3

    Hi Neal,

The 913D2 is 460 CC with a shallower face designed to produce slightly higher spin and launch. The D3 is a slightly smaller head (445 CC) with a deeper face designed to produce lower launch and spin.

    Hope this helps.

    Bubba,

Do the characteristics of the 913 D2 and D3 driver that you described for Neal change depending on the shaft you install?  Meaning, if I get the 913 D2 which promotes higher launch and spin but put a low spin shaft in it with high kickpoint will that change the characteristics of the 913 D2 that you described?

    Hi Tim,

In a word, yes. While driver heads are designed with certain characteristics in mind, it is the combination of length, loft, shaft and head model that make up the overall performance. A 10.5 D3 will almost certainly go higher than a 7.5 D2 (not always, depends on the player). Because of this, it is important to be open minded when heading into a fitting. I fit a lot of individuals into heads they thought were not right for them simply because a certain combination worked best.

    I hope this helps.

I have the D3 and it's a beautifully-hitting club.  Even when you miss, you have something decent you can work with.  When you hit it solid it's a joy to behold.  I saw a quote somewhere about these clubs somewhere that keeps coming to mind, "Designed by DaVinci, Built by Michelangelo" .  The club will impress you in that way.

Bubba:  I currently play a 910D 3 9.5* (10.25*) and am considering changing...have not decided on loft yet...thinking I might could use a little more mass and foregiveness....needless to say, I will go for a fitting.....currently I am using a Diamana 'ahina 72 shaft and also considering dropping down a little in that area......any recommendations, prior to going to a titlest demo.....my other shafts for my F, and Hs are 80s and 82s and stiff.....thanks....chuck
